VA Get Ready For Abortion Ban

Anonymous
Incase you were thinking there must be exceptions for pregnant children, or emergency scenarios, you’d be wrong. Take a good
look at what the goal is. Complete lack of access. https://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?231+ful+HB1395

Don't Democrats control the state Senate? This won't pass.

There are pro-life D senators in VA. Don't be so sure it won't pass

Yea but god knows for how long. This is an unacceptable thing for any major party to be actively pushing for.

Me neither! I think it’s a very sneaky attempt to outlaw all abortion by creating a bill of “rights” from the moment of conception.

What do you not understand?
Youngkin ran on banning all contraceptives, all abortions, IVF, any women's medical issues. Not one exception for age, rape or incest. So a 10 year old gets pregnant in VA she gets to carry.

The only reason he has not been able to pass anything is L Louise Lucas

There is a chance this will pass.

Virginia voters are idiots. FACT.

From a full abortion ban to privatizing schools welcome to the handmaid's tale and the new Alabama or Missouri.

Anyone sending a college student to any school in VA stupid. Women are going to die in droves.

So proud of Lucas.

And, yes, Virginia voters seem to assume this won't affect them. They are wrong.

Will we start seeing VA abortion refugees in DC and MD?

People think that there is a blue wall around NoVa, but state politics does impact NoVa, too.

DC or MD is a 20 minute drive. NOVA will be fine, it the people who live further out that will be impacted

Youngkin didn't run on those things. During the election people were on here saying he was being secretive about his real plans, telling a pro-lifer that he would do things after he was elected.

Oh please, you had to be a fool to think he was not running on these items.

Everyone with a brain knew he was a liar.

What don't I understand? The bill! It's confusing. As are lots of bills. I'd love to see a (brief) legal breakdown of this.

I totally disagree with you on Youngkin. Youngkin has positioned himself as the socially palatable conservative. Because he isn't outright saying everything the Republican Party believes in, somebody in Nova can put a Youngkin sign in their yard and still feel good about themselves. It would actually be nice if he pushed a no-exceptions abortion ban because everybody would see him for his true colors. Instead he has proposed things like a ban after 15 weeks with exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother. To me it's still morally reprehensible for the government to force somebody to give birth but you can see how a bill like that is much more likely to be passed and therefore more dangerous.

Not that I'd rule out anything. It is scary.
