When did your period return if you EBF?

| Exactly 4 weeks after I completely weaned for both babies. For the last month or so I only kept a nighttime feed and didn’t pump during the day at all. Still took until 4 weeks after I dropped that last feed (around 12/13 months) for both. |

| 6 weeks post partum with both kids. With DC1 I had a week off between post partum bleeding and my period coming back. With DC2 there was no break. |

+1 mine came back about a month after the last day I breastfed at all (12-14mo per kid). I tapered down to one feed for at least the last month probably. |

Period returned at 9 months postpartum w both kids. And it was the same as before being pregnant. I have very regular 28 day cycles and pms symptoms that start a week before period. They went right back to normal: from nothing to 28 day cycles w the same pms symptoms.
I continued to breastfeed til 18 months w both kids. |

Same for me. I exclusively pumped and shortly over 20 days after the last time I pumped, my first postpartum period showed up - almost exactly to the day of my child's first birthday and the world shutting down for COVID. |

I didn't have a period at all between my first two kids.
Got pregnant Sept 2017 Gave birth June 2018 Nursed until October 2019 Period never returned so in May 2020, I bought ovulation strips, peed on one single strip, it was positive, had sex, got pregnant. Gave birth again Jan 2021 After my second, I got my period back at 11 months even though I was still nursing regularly. |

| Interesting how much variation there is. For my first, it was after I fully weaned, around 22 months. Had one period and then got pregnant again. For my second, around 18 months, when I was down to nursing once a day. Period is much heavier now than before kids. |

My period didn't return at all with the first, but I ovulated and got pregnant at around month 15, just as breast feeding was dialed down.
That's about when my period came back with my second. For me it seems breast feeding was in fact effective birth control. 😁 |
