Would you allow your almost 12yo to get second piercings?

So I let DD get triple piercings in each ear. First set was probably age 8 (my mom took her), second set about age 10 or 11 (aunt took her) and third set at age 12 (DH took her).

It’s not about you.

Easily undone if she changes her mind about them later in life.

How does one unpierce?

You take the earrings out. They might close up, might not, but either way there’s no piercing without jewelry in it.

I’ve never heard of a piercing that did not eventually close up if you stop wearing earrings.

Yes, on ears, sure.

My 11 has mentioned she wants to do this, but seems to have forgotten. I am glad because I don't want her to, but I think even worse than her doing it is my forbidden her to do it:

I'd rather not set her up to rebel on something where the stakes are low.

I have a second piercing from 30 years ago that pusses up frequently. I have to squeeze it and it stinks.

It is trashy. I personally can't even begin to understand the mindset that filling your daughter's ears with holes and hardware isn't advertising she has parents who are trashy as well.

I would much rather have a daughter with 10 piercings in each ear than have a daughter who is a judgmental a$$hole like you.
But that’s just me. YMMV.

Yes. I don’t understand why this is a thing.

Sure.

No. She’d need to wait until she was 18.

Wasn't there a post like this last month?

My 12 year old said she wanted second piercings before the start of 7th grade. I got mine at 13. I said sure. I took her to the professional piercing place (tattoo parlor).

Our own parents were letting us do this in the 90s at about the same age, and I certainly think body modification of all kinds has become more main stream since then. So I wouldn't bat an eye-lid.

Ditto.
I'd say that I'd be fine with it if she's demonstrated that she can take care of the piercing properly. It's also fine to say she can do it when she's 13, perhaps as a birthday present.
