Would you allow your almost 12yo to get second piercings?

DD almost 12 has wanted second ear piercings for a while. She wants them for Christmas. She hasn’t wavered. I got mine, if I remember, the summer I turned 13, fwiw. I don’t know how to feel about her getting them and thought I’d crowdsource. Also fwiw; we would go to a professional piercer, not Claire’s.

Yes. My parents made a hug deal about this and didn't allow to get it till I was 15. I still don't understand why.

Yes. But some people say it’s trashy and your DD will be trashy. I personally can’t even begin to understand that mindset.

I’ve never liked the look so in our case I might set an age requirement, just as we did for the first piercing and makeup. It may be arbitrary but do what feels right for your family.

give them to her as a goal. good grades, helping around the house. some sort of milestone.

Yeah, who cares? It’s pretty tame and if she doesn’t like it, she can just not wear earrings in those holes.

It’s not like the kid wants to pierce her nipple or get a tramp stamp.

DD 13 just got her second piercing. She had asked before and I didn't say no just asked her to think about it and that she would have the second hole forever and might not like it as an adult. Several months later she had decided she wanted to do it. That's fine with me.
