| Nope. I would only let her get first piercings around that age. |
How does one unpierce? |
| Not at 12. Once she's a freshman in high school, she could consider it again. |
| Of course, who cares. DD did it a little later maybe 15 but just cause that's when she asked |
You take the earrings out. They might close up, might not, but either way there’s no piercing without jewelry in it. |
| No, not a second at that age. Have her wait for the second piercing and see if she still wants it at 14 or 15. |
I am very open to anything that isn’t long lasting. In our home, our kids can do pretty much whatever they want in terms of hair, clothing or anything else that doesn’t risk being permanent. Piercings, though, I would want to wait a while longer, similar to tattoos. We may be going through a phase where things are more popular and entering into phases where they are not. For better or worse, there is messaging that goes along with bodily markings, whether tattoos, piercings or anything else. I would not leave that in the hands of a teenager, frankly whether 12 or 16. I personally like double and triple piercings, but I also think that my children should have a relatively clean slate to work with as young adults to make their own decisions once they have a clearer sense of identity and needs. So for me, it is not so much the exact age, but really delaying until much later time for anything about which the world me, rightly or wrongly, make judgments in terms of hiring promotions or like. |
| Ear piercings, I don’t care about at all. Go for it! I have so many ear piercings. For the last 10 years, I have only worn earrings in one set of holes. No one has ever noticed them. I don’t want to wear all those earrings now but I also don’t regret them at all because they have impacted me not at all, and I enjoyed them when I did wear earrings in them. |
+1 NP |
| I would. |
|
She can do anything she wants to with dress, hair, nails, whatever as long as it's not permanent.
I would say no to any more piercings until she is at least 14. And then only one more in her ear, if she even still wants it then. Again, anything goes for me as long as it's not permanent. |
| No |
| Yes, this would not be a big deal to me. My SIL was horrified that my 16 yo son just got both his ears pierced. I don't understand why some people are so against piercings. |
| Pierced ears are so common. Piercings on other parts of the body, I don’t like. The reason is I think they look painful. Earlobes are not too painful to pierce. So I let DD get triple piercings in each ear. First set was probably age 8 (my mom took her), second set about age 10 or 11 (aunt took her) and third set at age 12 (DH took her). |
My DD is similar, memory is fuzzy, but I’d say she got her 3 piercings at 8, 11/12, 13. 16 now and has added some cartilage this year. |
