Bidens at Richard Montgomery HS Tomorrow

I am just sorry that the teachers might lose a half day to work in their classrooms, but maybe their admin wisely moved the afternoon classroom time to earlier in the week and they can meet virtually with their PLCs during the afternoon.

It is a thrill when a sitting president (or first lady/man) visit a school to VISIT THE SCHOOL. This is a poorly timed get out the vote event and has nothing to do with the school or the RM community.

I have to agree that it is a poorly-timed event. The week before school starts? Not only that, it’s the Thursday before school starts! RM had to cancel the student barbecue and Principal’s Chat and Chill. Sure, it’s not a big deal, but why didn’t they hold this even last Thursday instead?

it's on Friday afternoon now. I don't think it's a big deal that they rescheduled.

also, dr jill just got rebound covid, so i wonder if it will be cancelled or modified to virtual (or without her in attendance)

There was a very detailed letter sent out to the community (staff, families, etc.) explaining this event. Are you not connected directly to MCPS? Our school facilities are rented out all the time and it generates money.

Not money for MCPS.

A portion of the money goes to MCPS. The rest goes to the county and therefore benefits tax payers anyway.

Its absurd to kick out teachers. Shouldn't they be allowed to attend given its their school. Why be proud the president is going when its not to meet or support the students and staff its a publicity stunt.

Not true. This is directly from the email RM sent out.

‘Please note that our Chat & Chill Conversation with Principal Deeny has been postponed.’

No new date given, which to me, means it is cancelled.

None goes to MCPS for the rental. That's not how the rental money goes.

MCPS is going to pay them for the time they have been kicked out of the building.

Not an extra cost since they would have been paid anyways.

DP. I actually have 2 kids at RM. This event definitely impact the RM community. Today is not the most convenient time to do it, for about a billion reasons. But, I guess the DNC runs things in MoCo, so it is what it is.

Like the PP said, organizations, including political ones, are able to rent out many county buildings, including schools.

https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/CUPF/info-reservation/MCPS.html

And RM is a solidly Democrat school - teachers, staff, families. Predominantly Democrats. So this was the high school for the Bidens to choose. Who doesn’t like Biden? Go Democrats!

Let’s go Brandon!

Funded by Montgomery County taxpayers or by the DNC?

Couldn’t they have scheduled this earlier in the summer?

Do you care about who funded it or when it is occurring? Or, do you just like to complain?
