Bidens at Richard Montgomery HS Tomorrow

It’s really not a big deal. They have orientation until noon today, and then afterwards they need to clear the building. Why not just be proud that a US president is going to be at the school?

This is a DNC sponsored political event. The majority of people in Montgomery County are excited about this.

also, dr jill just got rebound covid, so i wonder if it will be cancelled or modified to virtual (or without her in attendance)

There was a very detailed letter sent out to the community (staff, families, etc.) explaining this event. Are you not connected directly to MCPS? Our school facilities are rented out all the time and it generates money.

DP. I actually have 2 kids at RM. This event definitely impact the RM community. Today is not the most convenient time to do it, for about a billion reasons. But, I guess the DNC runs things in MoCo, so it is what it is.

Like the PP said, organizations, including political ones, are able to rent out many county buildings, including schools.

And RM is a solidly Democrat school - teachers, staff, families. Predominantly Democrats. So this was the high school for the Bidens to choose. Who doesn’t like Biden? Go Democrats!

It used to be an honor when a sitting president would visit a school. I'd be thrilled if my child was at RM.

Would you have been thrilled if it was Trump, when he was the sitting president? (Just making sure there’s no hypocrisy)

Don’t worry, all the RM families are thrilled.

I doubt it had anything to do with that. More likely it was good security wise for whatever reason.

1. Next to county seat and police
2. RM is one of the largest schools in the county
3. it's a nice facility. Main St is awesome
4. Not in a completely residential area, but not in a highly congested area.
5. Closer to WH

Yes. Even a Republican, provided they're not anti-democracy and the rule of law.

The majority of people in Montgomery county don’t even vote. They could care less about this.

It is a thrill when a sitting president (or first lady/man) visit a school to VISIT THE SCHOOL. This is a poorly timed get out the vote event and has nothing to do with the school or the RM community.

I have to agree that it is a poorly-timed event. The week before school starts? Not only that, it’s the Thursday before school starts! RM had to cancel the student barbecue and Principal’s Chat and Chill. Sure, it’s not a big deal, but why didn’t they hold this even last Thursday instead?

Not an RM parent but what is the Principal's Chat and Chill?

Agree that this has NOTHING to do with the school or the RM community. They are making sure to clear the school out before Biden gets there. This is solely an event for DNC supporters.

With the excessive school closures and unwavering support of the Teachers Union, the Democrats and Joe Biden have been clear that they don’t really care about our schools or our community.

My child is in JW (RM feeder MS) and I am an independent, I am honored our area and high school was chosen for the event. No I would not have been happy for Trump per se to visit anywhere in MoCo, but would have been as excited for any other Republican President.

Reported in Bethesda Beat

The conservative political action committee Help Save America will hold a “freedom rally” at Richard Montgomery at the same time of the Bidens’ visit, Montgomery County Media reported.
