Same. Please OP! Both are awful. Emily is better. |
Oh, I really like Emmeline. It's sweet. |
I like them both and assumed Emmeline was pronounced Emma-lean. I've never met anyone with either name. |
How do you feel about the song Oh my darling, Clementine? Because that will come up. |
+1 |
One of my DD’s best friends is Emmeline (
Emm-uh-line). She goes be Emme (Emm-ME). I like it. |
My older teen DD is disappointed that we did not choose Ivy. |
Love Ivy |
As a woman with a difficult to spell name, I would not endorse Emmeline. You don't know how annoying a lifetime of this is if you have an easy name. |
Uh, why is this relevant? That’s a totally different name. |
Oh! It was Emma line in my head. I wouldn’t do this for a first name. She’ll be correcting people forever. |
Yeah, OP. I think you’re going for the French pronunciation. Don’t do this, unless you’re moving to France. I had a neighbor who had a basic American name, but was born abroad and parents decided to pronounce it the foreign way. She got so, so, so mad when people mispronounced it. People are familiar with Caroline. Americans will pronounce it “Emma-line”. Either embrace the American pronunciation or choose something else. |
Because I know kids who go by these names..
And be user I like the Emmeline more, I’d say Emmeline!! They pronounce it with a long I. |
If you like the short version Emmy, why don't you call her like that? There are a lot of long names which people actually don't use and are only called by short version. What's the point of that name anyway? I love Emmy too, here you check the meaning of it - http://www.kidnamemeaning.com and maybe some other name options of you like. |
My order of preference:
1. Ivy 2. Emmeline (pronouced emma-LINE) 3. Emmeline (pronouced emme-lean) 4. Nickname Emmy for anything But honestly, OP, go with what you like. Anyone who cares for your child will love her name no matter what they thought of it originally because it's her name and they love her. |
