I came across the name Emmeline on some baby name list and fell in love with it. Can do Emmy as a nickname which I like. However, I imagine that she's in for a long life of "What's your name?" "Emmeline." "Emily?" "No, Emmeline." Or maybe I'm overthinking it. We do live in a very diverse area.
I've had Ivy on my list for a while too and have always loved it. Which do you like better? Emmeline could also be spelled Emeline but I think I like two Ms better. Opinions? |
Emmeline is a very old name, it’s nice but I wouldn’t use a nickname. Spell Emmeline or Emmaline. |
Two m's if you go Emmeline.
I think I prefer Ivy, but if you have a one-syllable last name or something that might move the needle. |
Is it Emme-leen or Emme-line? |
Is it Emma line or Emma lean?
I like it and Ivy the same although I know how to pronounce Ivy better. |
I like both - prefer Ivy as a December baby but that's probably just me.
I would pronounce it Emma-line |
Ivy |
OP here: It's pronounced Emme-lean. |
Ivy |
Hate both. |
Wouldn't do it bc you/she will be clarifying the pronunciation constantly. Ivy is simple and beautiful and not overdone. |
Emmeline |
I’ve always heard it pronounced Emme-LINE (I’ve met a couple Emmelines and Adelines and they all pronounced it with a long I sound). If you plan to pronounce it differently I think that would lead to a lot of correcting down the road. |
Oops sent too soon. That being said, I like both names a lot! |
Evie? |
