But only for a decade or so. Younger men see less and less reason to get married (maybe women too? Not sure, but they want kids…) So there will just be fewer married men in general |
Oh, this doesn't affect me. I am a Gen X'er who is happily married with children. I'm just making some observations about current shifting social norms. |
I have nephews and nieces 21-24(not 30 anyone over 25 is not young but is an adult). They do not date. They may hang out sometimes but a lot of times it is all internet related. So they tend to stay in the same groups with no outsider interaction. They also do not “go out” to meet the opposite sex. I do not think they are looking to meet the opposite sex when they go out or online specially the guys. They all went to “elite” private schools, big name universities and got great jobs at well know finance and consultancy firm making bank. The times have changed. Each generation does its own thing. |
This is a manosphere trope used to poison young men's minds and make them hate women. |
Maybe if we removed a woman's right to hold a bank account or credit card in her own name, she'd see more promise in marriage. The good old days, when men were men and women were women and all of that. Maybe get rid of those laws against domestic violence since a different poster just told us that women really get hot for male dominance and strength. |
Every generation has been grousing about the younger generation since Eve got us thrown out of the Garden. And yet, somehow society has mostly improved in the last 6,000 years or however long ago you think that might have been. |
| I mostly met girls by meeting them while we were drunk at college parties. Now I'm curious how those of you over 40 tended (or tend) to meet the people you had sex with. |
Amen. This is a non-problem. It’s likely because folks live with mom & dad, which means places to have sex are tough to come by. |
And women can order sperm off the Internet if they want to have a baby, or use IVF/egg donation if they meet a man when they are older. |
I think it is a different issues. 80% and 70% of men are having sex but they do not want a relationship. The 20% of women and 30% of men are just the normal low sex drive people who do not feel pressure to have sex. This is a good thing. It is really hard to make any kind of leaps from this “study”. You would need to see the raw data and break it out by wealth, smaller age groups range, who is in a long term relationship, who is in school, more frequency range range data, etc. |
Those procedures do have a high failure rate and require a D&C which can not be preformed anymore. Also they usually fertilize a group of eggs which in some states would be consider a live person. |
| This seems like yet another way to blame women for the problems of men. |
|
“Young men between 18 and 30 years of age saw one of the biggest declines in sexual activity, with 28 percent saying they had no sex over the last year. Young women in the same age range, however, report higher rates of sexual activity, with only 18 percent saying they had no sex in the past year.”
This sounds like the remaining 72 percent of men would be on average having more sex since the women rate is up. Maybe a variation of the winner take all economy, but with sex….lol |
Maybe the women are having sex with each other. |
This. Heaven forbid men have to try to earn their way through life, love, and respect, rather than just be handed it. Oh noes, the poor young males. |
