I might ask my kid to do so. Omicron rates are still very high, and we have a very high risk family member.
I don't understand why other people are so threatened by what I ask my own child to do. I get that you might not want to wear a mask yourself. I'm not asking you to. I'm just asking that you leave my child alone. People constantly say that those of us who take a lot of precautions are anxious, but many people on this thread appear to be afraid of a piece of clothing that someone else's child is wearing. I'm taking an action that doesn't hurt you one bit, to prevent a rare but potentially devastating outcome. You're taking an action that belittles a child to prevent . . . well nothing. My child wearing a mask does nothing to you. |
Hardcore anti-masker here and couldn’t care less that you want your child to wear a face mask. It defies science, but go ahead if it makes you feel better. The problem is 99% of people who wear a mask outdoors like you are fascists who want the world to bend to their every whim, and wear a mask outdoors as a performative stunt to signal their high moral worth. You should join the campaign to stop the insanity if you want to be taken seriously. |
| I would only mask outdoors if I had tested positive for covid. LOL. Particularly with tennis.....what??? |
But in this situation, the parent of this child asked the instructor to don a mask, no? I do know people who do what is right for them and do not judge, however unfortunately I have found that heavy maskers are much more likely to push that upon others, in either direct ways, or indirect guilt trippy ways. I'm able to separate that, but other people might not be able to. Also if you are always masked and I never see your face when I see you, I tend to view those people as subhuman in a weird way, like Sims moving through a landscape. I can't see your face, your expressions, your emotions, can't relate to you, hence I struggle to care about you. Human psychology is powerful. |
Did you pull a muscle to make that stretch? |

BUT THEY ARE NOT. Outdoors is how many people are catching omicron. I don't mask outdoors religiously but I understand why people do. Also, do any of you people play tennis or had a coach? Your coach does not stay on the opposite side of the court the entire time. In fact, they're often close to you. |
NP. So what if the instructor was asked to wear a mask? She could have said no. But instead she decided to do it. Wearing a mask is not hard, especially in winter. I don't mask outdoors (unless asked to do so), but indoors I struggle to care about the people who I see not masking. I tend to view those people as selfish subhumans, and imagine that they probably also aren't vaccinated, either. I wonder how they have become so self centered that they can't take a few small steps to protect other people. I wonder if, when they are confronted, they accuse the other person of "guilt tripping" them. I literally cannot imagine being such a person. |
What are "heavy maskers"? As of course the second bolded part says a lot about you and a lot about what our country is going through. If we don't agree with you, we're "subhuman". And you say you "do not judge". Really? |
Nope. Not doing this anymore. Done with your faux moral outrage that has no basis in science or reality. Get your filthy hands off my kid and our medical decisions. Cloth masks do.not.work, and N95s protect the wearer. Reporting for misinformation. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2022/01/does-it-help-wear-mask-if-no-one-else/621177/ |
| We all had Omicron in our house. It was very mild. We are all vaxxed and DH and I are boosted. Most people will get it. Going crazy over catching it and masking outdoors seems a little extreme. Letting your kid ride in your car to tennis is about a zillion times riskier than catching Omicron while playing and getting really sick. |

No. Washing hands has been proven to reduce the incidence of infectious diseases such as cholera, enteroviruses etc. Hand washing in general and wearing a mask specifically to prevent Covid while ***outdoors*** and being vaccinated are nowhere in the same category in terms of proven added value. |
Not to mention this is such a proven gaslight response. No, forcing a developing person to permanently cover their face and mouth and anyone they come into contact with and telling them it’s their duty or they’ll kill their grandma is not the same as washing their hands after touching their genitals, you psychologically-abusive idiot. |
This is insane. We never wear masks outdoors. -Sane, educated, vaccinated, liberal family |
