Masking outdoors

Two of our household went on a jog maskless right before New Years on a somewhat busy neighborhood trail system passing a lot of other maskless joggers and walkers. They got sick 2 days later. We had no other exposure vectors. We don’t normally mask outdoors but we are now going to till this surge abates.

We don’t mask outdoors either and we actually know that’s how we caught Covid a few weeks ago. Kid played with a neighbor for about an hour outdoors and the friend tested positive the next day. Our kid tested positive 4 days later. So if your kid is going to be playing closely with another child or be close to their tennis instructor then you might consider masks.

No mask outdoors, especially for tennis. That seems absurd.

I do not mask outdoors, and would not in this situation.

I find that masks can affect depth perception as well and that is very important in tennis.

Ugh. Appearances is the absolute WORST reason to mask outdoors.

Even when there was a supposed mask mandate, I knew outdoor masking was just theater. Never made my kids do it.

I'd mask outdoors if the people are going to be really close together for an extended period of time, but not otherwise.

More like a mental illness. This is why the pandemic will never end in this area, people refuse to give it up.

For tennis? If they're at opposite ends of the court? No mask. And we are seriously cautious in most things.

So? I'm not 5. Random people's opinions mean nothing to me.

Masks should not be worn period. People are crazy.

This. Except with one friend who is more comfortable that way. I think that is not based on science, but I would rather see them than be right, so we do for them. Other than that, we don’t bother.

I don’t think a virus will decide to stay around because people are adhering ton unnecessary precautions. That’s not how viruses work.

People should pay more attention to this post.

I personally only mask outdoors for this reason or as a courtesy to someone working, such as a pickup window. Otherwise I don’t mask outdoors at all.

Went to a ski resort and road chairlifts with strangers all day totally massless. Didn’t catch COVID.

5 year old kids don’t care that much about the disapproval of strangers. The PP is exhibiting an attitude you find in teenagers, a fear of being unpopular.
