I like Miranda and Juliet.

All all very pretty names.

Paloma is a Spanish name. Spanish from Spain. It's not like you have to be English heritage to use Elizabeth or French heritage to use Marie or German heritage to use Hanna.

If you can’t use Paloma, you also can’t use Clara or Isabel. It’s silly.

So I just really like to drink Palomas so that's the main reason I'd avoid naming a kid that. But we do know a sweet toddler with this name (my DH is latin and this is one of his latin friends) and it suits her just fine.

What about Marisol? I love that name and couldn't use it.

My favorite Latin names are Inez and Violeta.

Let me guess: Elizabeth/Kathryn/Charlotte/Margaret/anne or bust?

Paloma is awful.

Alice, Juliet or Gwendolyn are all lovely. I actually love the name Gwyneth but Paltrow ruined it.

Love Paloma!

Lol help. OP here. Paloma is either the best or worst ever which makes me nervous. I know Juliet is having a moment but I love Shakespearean names and I love the name and the dire straits song. I too drink the Palomas when no my pregnant.

If we did Gwendolyn we would likely call her Winnie or Wendy.

Yeah, we aren't giving you much consensus! Sorry. I like Paloma a lot but it sounds to me like it's more your husband's choice.

I like Juliet and love your inspiration. I think you just need to sell your DH on it. Here are some arguments in favor:

* It's a recognizable name but is not super popular right now at all (#306 in 2020) and also not on a trajectory to get more popular (has been hovering in the 200s and 300s the last decade, and actually declined in popularity the last couple years) so you could feel pretty confident that it's not going to be ubiquitous

* Not only is the literary reference meaningful to you, but Juliet is the kind of name little girls enjoy having, without being too ridiculous. Little girls often like super feminine names like Arabelle and Ariana or princess names (real or imagined). Juliet fits right in with that aesthetic, so your DD is likely to like her name as she grows up. That will contribute to confidence.

*But it's also a sophisticated name that suits an adult very well. This might be what pushes past Gwendolyn/Winnie/Wendy for some people. There are people who don't like a too cute name on an adult woman, and Juliet is not that. It will work well in most professional settings without being overly serious or dour either.

That's what I have so far. I honestly like all your names and think they'd all work well, so my arguments above are not about putting any name down, just trying to make a strong argument for the name you clearly like most.

I like Juliet, but here’s Juliette’s info(it’s possibly a future trend):

I would pick Paloma.

Nope. Although I kind of like the name Katherine/Kate. But definitely strongly dislike Margaret and Anne. Elizabeth and Charlotte are boring.
