s/o chicken salad

Add Mayo (Dukes) salt and pepper. That’s all you need for really good chicken salad. Don’t use a greasy store bought rotisserie.

Sometimes I add grapes and pecans. Sometimes I add a curry. You could also use apples or mandarin oranges.

Your last three sentences negate whatever authority you thought you had on the subject.

Why are you pretending putting fruit in it is so crazy? EVERYWHERE makes it with some type fruit in it. You are the weird one

“Everywhere” does no such thing. Go to any reputable NYC deli. There will be at least four kinds to choose from, and only one will have fruit. For the wrong people. Because they still want your money.

I just sat down to eat my chicken salad sandwich when I saw this post! I make mine with pre-cooked boneless chicken breasts from Whole Foods. I mince celery and scallions in the Cuisinart and transfer to bowl with a lid. Then I chop the chicken (also in the Cuisinart) and add it to the bowl. I add a very small amount of mayo (Sir Kensignton brand) and a lot of sea salt. Eat on lightly toasted rye bread. Delish.

I'm in the no-fruit-in-chicken-salad camp but I recently had one with cut up grapes in it and I didn't notice it much. I'm not sure it makes much of a difference.

also, chicken salad isn't a midwest thing.

Chicken
Finely diced celery
Salt/pepper/a little dill or maybe a little paprika

Chicken salad DOES NOT contain:
Grapes
Nuts
Raisins

Stop ruining life.

I’m with you, however…TRY making it with grapes. Quarter them up. It’s delicious. A little pop of sweetness.

I have tried it. It is gross. Next.

Like or not is your personal preference. But it is far more common to see it made with some type of fruit. It just is. Call is insane, living on the edge, whatever. But it’s the truth. It is common and the most popular way to prepare.

I don't know why anyone would care if you like fruit in your Chicken salad. Nit Mt thing, personally but I'm an adult who realizes other people like different things and that's okay.

My chicken salad "hack" is adding a little bit of salad dressing. I also like to use yellow or orange bell peppers (red too sweet). And Blue Plate mayo.

You don't have to like it. How about you just try the next thread about food you do like?

Mango chutney
Curry powder
Mayo/sour cream mixture
Some salt

I would do this and add some pecans or walnuts.

Sounds like a simplified version of one of my favorite recipes-- making this as written takes longer but is very good:

You realize that chicken salad is a big deli item found throughout the Northeast?

I’m not a particular fan of “salads” but I’m confused about the people who say there’s no seasoning? If you’ve been eating unseasoned chicken covered in unseasoned mayo, then I’m beginning to see the problem.

I love chicken salad, but only my way. I take leftover chicken, usually thighs or rotisserie chicken, and shred it. I add lots of finely chopped celery. I mix together a little mayo and dijon mustard and mix that in really well. Then I add salt and pepper. That's it. I like it in a wrap, on rye bread, or on top of a salad.
