https://www.alxnow.com/2021/08/27/breaking-video-shows-brawl-at-alexandria-city-high-school-cafeteria-just-two-days-after-school-starts/ I didn't even mention CRT. I just don't want time wasted on identity politics like PP suggested. I did teach my child to read but not every kid has parents who have the time and patience to do so. Let's focus on helping them instead of whining about privilege. There are plenty of rich POC in our neighborhood so it's a bit laughable to have to hear how disadvantaged they are. |
A very good assessment of this Republican Strategist's "interview".

She’s a straight up white white supremacist. She’s basically saying yeah there may be racism, but just ignore it. Turn a blind eye and don’t talk about it openly, after all it isn’t affecting her and her people negatively. |
The fact that this dim bulb was a "paid Republican strategist" should be very concerning to Republicans.
What's that saying? With friends like this, you don't need enemies.... |
Not sure that most voters are holding out until they watch a video from a Showtime show. |
Is this woman running for governor? I must have missed that part. |
I don't know if you know this. BUT there are books about important racial and class issues. Kids can learn to read those books and get informed at the same time! Oh also, there is history.... |
Ummm…. |
Did you not watch the video? She didn't claim there was "no racism." She said it wasn't as prevalent as some are making it out to be. I agree with her........ there has been an effort to paint the US as a racist country. That is BS. There are racist individuals, but as a whole, this country does a damn good job at acknowledging diversity and providing opportunity to people of ALL colors. We need to focus much less on race and more on providing educational opportunities and economic opportunities to low income people because they, too, come in ALL colors. |
This country has done a terrible job acknowledging racism/white supremacy. The dominant race has a habit of pretending it isn’t there when they know it is. It exists in all areas of activity. It’s important and this is something that has gone on far too long. We have to acknowledge it and talk about it. |
You’re joking, right? It’s perfectly reasonable to expect kids to learn how to read at school. BTW, I had one kid learn to read around 3, and the other learned in Kindergarten like most kids. They were both privileged that I read to them a lot. Not every child is in a home where parents have time or the ability to do that. So “too bad so sad”, they don’t get to learn because it is unreasonable to expect them to learn in school? You are a clown. |
Former first grade teacher here. It is not unreasonable for them to learn to read in school. I taught first grade back when kids learned to read in first grade. Few came to school already reading and K did not teach reading in those days. I spent several years teaching kids who lived in projects. These were extremely poor kids. It takes a lot longer and is very difficult to teach kids who lack language skills. Biden quoted something the other day about the number of words a child has in a wealthy home vs a poor home. I believe all parents love their kids, but not all parents know how to help them. Talking to your children and reading to them is so important. Few of the kids from the projects had books in the home. There have been studies that show that even seeing their parents read has a positive effect on a child's reading progress. When you have to begin instruction in Kindergarten with the right way to hold a book, it takes a long time to develop a fluent reader. Kids who have been read to may not know how to read, but they do understand that print has meaning. I firmly believe that if more money would be spent early on that gives guidance to parents of infants, it would do more than pre-k. It starts at birth. |
Yeah the kids saw all this fuss over CRT and are now asking to be taught it. Ironic. |
But you know they are distributed because it is in the news with some regularity. https://wtop.com/loudoun-county/2021/06/kkk-flyers-distributed-in-leesburg-police-say/ https://loudounnow.com/2018/01/22/after-kkk-fliers-fiery-crowd-challenges-law-enforcement-to-do-more-to-combat-racism/ Your comment “I don’t see racism” is typical and indicative of your white privilege and bigotry. |
And Leesburg of all places. Leesburg is a town I’ve lived near and visited regularly for the last 35 years. In the last 20 years it has gotten a little better, but it is and always has been abundant racism in Leesburg. |
