I'm in ACPS where they can't even teach kids how to read. How about we work on teaching kids actual core material and stopping thugs from starting massive brawls and bringing guns to school before we start spouting that drivel at impressionable children. [/quote]

You’re joking, right? It’s perfectly reasonable to expect kids to learn how to read at school. BTW, I had one kid learn to read around 3, and the other learned in Kindergarten like most kids. They were both privileged that I read to them a lot. Not every child is in a home where parents have time or the ability to do that.

So “too bad so sad”, they don’t get to learn because it is unreasonable to expect them to learn in school?
