Farmland ES student death

She's living in a shelter. So, this makes no sense that the shelter staff didn't notice and help her get help. She'd also have a caseworker assigned to her with the county she'd meet with regularly. There is more to this story. But, its none of our business.

In the Spanish news article, the family mentions that he was bullied. Interesting that it was not mentioned in the English version of the article https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.telemundowashingtondc.com/noticias/local/no-se-como-vivir-sin-el-muere-nino-hispano-tras-colapsar-en-escuela-de-montgomery/2090480/%3famp

Bullied at school and the school couldn't tell the media whether or not they had the record of the event.

Heartbreaking, may this dear child Rest In Peace.I hope his bullies are tormented by guilt. I don’t underwhelmed the mom didn’t take him to an ear or free clinic to get checked out. I understand fear or inability to pay, but I would jump in front of a moving train for my child.

I agree. If they showed up at an emergency room, they would not have been turned away (if you come to this country, you should at least have the basic understanding of how things work. Also, why are we letting people into this country sho go directly to shelters?).

Do we know how long they have been in the US? It may have been years.

The family may be here legally.

Have you ever tried to get an appointment? At best it takes months.

You realize you live in a world of privilege. She does not. She's struggling to get by. She's struggling to find housing. She can only stay so long at the shelter and if she's not legal, there are not rental assistance programs to help post-shelter as there are for citizens. She's jus trying to survive.

The bullying wouldn't cause this kind of medical situation so they are two entirely different issues. But, if she mentioned it to the caseworker assigned to her for the shelter or shelter workers, they should have helped her get medical treatment. Or, the school counselor.
