| The mother could have been afraid to seek medical attention since perhaps they are an undocumented family? |
| But not afraid to speak to the media? |
oh ffs. She lost her son. I suspect they are either undocumented or relatively new to the country. What does it matter. Our country makes it so so hard for people to get care. |
|
Awful.
Everyone should be appalled that we live in a country where people can’t/don’t/won’t seek medical care due to cost or fear. |
| Oh sweet Jesus. This is such a sad tragedy. |
| The article said he had been complaining for a month. The school nurse didn’t raise this issue during this month? There are county health departments that offer free medical care. Isn’t the school nurse a mandatory reporter? |
No, she was afraid of the bills. She was already in a county shelter, so it wasn't her immigration status. |
He complained to his mother. No where does it say he complained to a teacher or anyone else at the school. |
Are you the person who tried to stir sh!t yesterday by linking this child’s death to a lawsuit that MCPS won? |
Montgomery county has free Care regardless of immigration status. Thats the tragedy. |
Are you saying it’s tragic that undocumented people are provided basic healthcare. |
Its very difficult to get that free care and very long wait lists. She doesn't owe anyone anything and why would anyone expect her to speak to the media. What kind of parent focuses on speaking to the media vs. morning their child? |
You are a horrible person for your post. You are demanding others respect their privacy when you posted here and didn't respect their privacy. Why this child died or how is NONE of your business. |
This. There are programs available in MoCo, but people slip through, don't know about them, or dismiss their kids concerns due to money. My parents never believed me when I said I was sick, as a poor white person. It's cheaper and you don't have to take off from work if you hope it will go away. |
| Heartbreaking story. We should all try our best to avoid being divisive, particularly when discussing this tragedy. |
