??? How do you see a long line looping down the street in one direction and figure that you do not need to get in that line and instead can just jump into it half way? It does not matter at all that you came from a different direction - you can turn left at the end of the line just as well as turning left where you jump the line.

Is it going to kill you to wait 5 additional seconds? Be kind, model kindness to your children.

I do that’s why I don’t do entitled things like cut the line.

It's not cutting the line, it's called merging. If you're this worked up about a kiss and ride line, I think you need some help, LOL!

Just wait until you end up behind the grandparent trying to unload a kindergartner in a carseat, a third grader with a project, and a sixth grader with a cello

NP. It’s not really merging when the school has stated no left turns ….

The school cannot require that parents execute a moving traffic violation by doing an illegal Uturn in the middle of a atreet in a school zone instead of makimg a legal merging left turn into q parking lot.

What the school is demanding is not legal.

Is fcps going to pay for the tickets for those who get caught or cause an accident doing an illegal U turn?

Lazy kids. They should walk. Or take the bus.

Turn around in the Chesterbrook pool parking lot. Problem solved.

When my kids attended CHesterbrook, every child in that school was eligible for bus transport because of its location on Kirby and general lack of sidewalks. Is that not that case anymore?

My kids don't go to Chesterbrook, but I drop them off because our bus is insanely overcrowded and school is on my way to work, and our kiss and ride line goes really quickly, so it's easy.

At first I thought OP was just expressing opinion (one line) as fact, and that there was no problem with merging... then realized the school has expressly stated not to turn L on Kirby into the lot. My bad, OP is right. There are plenty of places/ways to make a legal turnaround. To be fair, they should have some "no left turn between hours of X and Y" type signage put up... not everyone reads the newsletters in detail.

Stop with all the “illegal U-turn” nonsense. Are there other streets in the neighborhood you could use to legally get to the back of the line? Yes. Yes, there are. You are 0% more important than anyone else. Follow the school’s direction and wait your damn turn.

Anonymous wrote:I used to go to Chesterbrook and had to make a left to turn into the kiss and ride…it’s the direction i was driving from my house. I never considered it rude and there is no rule (at least at that time) saying you can’t make a left hand turn into the school parking lot. You are basically asking people that live to the left of the school to not make a legal left hand turn into the school and instead make an illegal uturn in the middle of Kirby road during rush hour because you can’t let a person in? It’s not “cutting” in line…it just happens to be me driving from the direction of my home and making a legal turn!

There is a rule now from the principal. That is why the kiss and ride line backs up to the Episcopal Church this year.

Same thing happens at Haycock. Parents make left hand turns into the kiss and ride turning across solid yellow lines. Very frustrating for those who follow the rules and value the safety of all children.

There is a nationwide shortage of bus drivers. So, some of the buses have to do 2 complete loops for 2 different routes every night. This makes kids wait until 5 pm to get home. Thus, why more folks are using the kiss n ride line.

Anonymous wrote:As someone who has to drive down Kirby to get to work, can I please ask that, in the morning, you guys stay ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT and not block off the entire road? And in the afternoon, PLEASE let the people who are turning left into the line, otherwise they end up blocking traffic, and I don't want to wait behind McLean mom in her black SUV for 10 minutes because you other ladies are too mean to let her turn in.

Best answer

Kirby commuter--Dear parents waiting along Kirby, please do not block the side streets. Leave all intersections available.

I can imagine thinking that’s the line for people coming from the other direction and thinking, “wow, I’m lucky I’m coming from this direction! Fortune has smiled on me!”

Op, if the school has expressly prohibited this, you need to report this to the principal so they can deal with it. Have someone from the school stand at the corner where the illegal left is happening.
