Chesterbrook Elementary School Kiss and Ride -- Get to the back of the line!!

Anonymous
Vent: during drop off in the mornings, there is often a line that goes down Kirby... But there are always some people that make a left hand turn directly into the entrance of the kiss and ride loop, cutting off the rest of the line. Just get to the back of the line! Everyone else has to sit and wait in line. These jerks just push into line, sometimes blocking oncoming traffic....Just drive up a little further to turn left, and get to the BACK of the line. I wish the school would shut down these "left-hand turn" jerk faces by putting up cones or something during morning drop off.

If you live down Kirby from that direction, it’s perfectly fine to enter the kiss and ride by making a left hand turn.

NOT if you are cutting off people that are waiting in line. Just continue to drive and get to back of the line.

Our schools has no left turn signs into the parking lot. There is always one rude, entitled mom who will sit and turn left and cut the line.

At Westgate, folks just go one at a time from each direction. They are in line too. You need to calm down. Be civilized, people!

It's just basic manners. McLean people can be so insufferable....

Same as our school. We have kiss and ride lines coming from 2 directions. Everyone takes turns. No one is cutting the line in this case.

That is not the case here. There is one line, and too often people cut the line instead of driving a little further and getting to the back of the line.

Seems the same to me. If there’s a road, people can drive down that and alternate. If you want to join that and help make the lines the same length, you can.

We had a similar situation when we brought our child to their college campus recently. There was a long line from one direction but we genuinely came from a different direction. We’ve never been in that city before and just followed Waze. A couple in the car that was about to turn right got so mad at us. Their faces were so angry as they gestured to the back of their line. When we parked in the garage, a man approached us and tried to continue the argument. Luckily other people who stood by the elevator with us asked us if we know that man, we said No, and they laughed it off because he appeared as a weirdo approaching strangers. Some people get irritated so easily as if they have no serious issues in their lives.

I get that it was maybe rude to cut off the line but we just followed the directions in the new city, and there was no sign saying that the cars should only enter from the right.

La Dee da. Maybe it was rude? Of course it was rude. Following waze doesn’t make it magically ok to cut the line.

Yes, this happens, but it’s day 20+ … they know now.

Seems to me you should ask the school to put out cones and send an email if they want parents coming from both directions to use the same entrance, not venting here. Otherwise people will just think they are merging into the line.

??? How do you see a long line looping down the street in one direction and figure that you do not need to get in that line and instead can just jump into it half way? It does not matter at all that you came from a different direction - you can turn left at the end of the line just as well as turning left where you jump the line.

As someone who has to drive down Kirby to get to work, can I please ask that, in the morning, you guys stay ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT and not block off the entire road? And in the afternoon, PLEASE let the people who are turning left into the line, otherwise they end up blocking traffic, and I don't want to wait behind McLean mom in her black SUV for 10 minutes because you other ladies are too mean to let her turn in.
