LOL No it's not a big draw for MoCo and DC kids. No W school has more than 100 students apply to UVa and each of these schools has about 500 seniors. Nice try though, booster. |

It's an outstanding university, and you would pay in-state tuition.
What's the mystery? |
Sorry I missed you were talking about OOS. However, I don't think a great public school in a neighboring state would be such a mystery, either. |
| This makes no sense. UVA is a fantastic deal for Virginia kids, not so much for MoCo. Signed, parent of very happy UVA student from Virginia. |
| I’m in VA and my kid is not applying to UVA be use they don’t have the grades. |
You forgot Hopkins. My kid absolutely would go to any of these three before UVA. No interest in a big southern state school. |
| No. Just didn't like it. |
True |
| There were around 25 students who applied from Blair last year. The class is over 800 students. |
But applicants for UVA and W&M. With data tools like Naviance and SCHEV, counselors can easily predict chances. The parents may also ha e been told that the counselor is not checking the Most Rigorous box, in which case there’s no point in applying. Counselors also write a letter of recommendation for Virginia schools so should be very up front with parents about applying to high star schools when the student doesn’t have high stats. It’s their job to reroute the student to a more suitable Virginia school if in-state or to others more suitable if OOS |
| Not applying. Overpriced. |
I’m not sure I understand this post. I think there must be a number of typos. |
At Blair the counselors do not advise the students where to apply or route them anywhere. It’s a huge school. |
+1. Naviance tells us there is zero chance of admittance. |
I thought I was the only one. |
