DA vs ECNL vs everything else

May be true about Bethesda's girls' program--I don't have enough experience to say. But on the boys' side, they do a really good job of development at the younger ages and try to promote from within where they can. A lot of kids on the boys' DA teams have been at Bethesda since they were small.

This is such a throwaway statement. There is so much movement for various reasons that you could say this about any club in this area.

New kid in town called DA.

High in the standings?

ECNL MA is weak.

IT'S NOT THE SAME ECNL MA DIVISION as it was before DA.

The team is weak if It's not the top 2 in that division. I dare to say #1.

DA is doing that much damage to ECNL?

ECNL realigned the conferences just before GDA came on the scene so you cannot really compare. But I get your point.
In relative terms the MA conference of GDA is also weak.

Having seen the mclean 05 matches, totally cant agree about standings. just not true about the top 1,2 teams, especially after 1 year at that level and seeing the different attempted styles of play of the teams.

Not on the girls side. They just do not have enough teams/players at the younger ages to develop a competitive older team. You can see it. There are about 4-5 girls each age group the coach care about. The rest they have already been scheduled for replacement. I do not know if they will get the girls like they use to without DA. Look at Arlington’s rising u11. They got a lot more talented girls at their tryouts. The DA is clearly winning that age group.

Girls are social minded and much more unlikely to leave teams they have been on for years to put themselves out there on a new team unless all their friends go too. Unless a player is very ambitious (whereas boys are much more likely to change teams to the best team they can get on even if they don't know anyone. I see boys do it all the time).

So the older teams are much more likely to stay intact, as girls won't leave what they know.

The younger age groups aren't established teams, and those girls are still young enough that relationships won't be a strong anchor on their decisions. So for 05 and younger, they will simply go to whatever club/environment seems the best long term developmental choice.

As a PP pointed out, they may not just want a spring of showcases. They may want to continue with a full year of club.

Are you kidding me? Did you just say that girls don't leave teams because their besties are on the team and they aren't as ambitious as boys? The older girls aren't leaving Mclean because they are already well into their recruiting years and have no reason to leave, not because they aren't ambitious. The younger girls are leaving because there are more options, and the DA model, which is finally available to them, is attractive. Wow. Just wow.

I said girls are less likely, unless they are very ambitious. Because of statistics, actual co versations with parents and my DD’s conversations with other girl players. That can upset you as much as you like. It doesn’t mean there aren’t ambitious girls. I never said that, but as a whole, girls are more likely to play where their friends do. That’s reality.

The more ambitious girls will always keep looking ahead. Canniff for example drove all the way down to Richmond when that was best, and left to join Sprit when that was best. She is a very ambitious player who is driven to be the best of the best.

Sorry that offends you.

You really are a goof SP. The comment was that GDA MA was weak in the context of GDA overall, just as MA ECNL is weak in the context of ECNL overall. As you know they do not play each other regularly.
