This is our situation also and coach plays favorites... unfortunately my child is not one of them. Really unfair to stick the same group of kids with the same extremely mediocre coach for three years. Three years is a long time in their soccer development! The kids need a fresh perspective. |
Where does Valor have these coaches experience and licensing and qualifications listed? I can't find it on their website in order to "do my own research" ? |
For their very high prices, they should be able to pay for experienced coaches for all their teams. They charge $3000 for u-littles!
Why do they struggle so much to hire decent coaches? Is their management cheap? difficult? |
The only logical explanation is they aren't paying enough to get good coaches.
They have plenty of revenue, with their over-market fees. So Valor "management" must be eating up all the profit in the form of salaries for themselves. |
If you have a 2011 girl, you are good to go for next year.
Everyone else, shop around. |
This is a very misinformed comment. There are some excellent coaches on the girls side top team. Cannot speak to the other teams or boys but for girls next year, based on the ones I know, U9/10 coach is excellent (good enough for San Diego Wave is probably good enough for DMV travel soccer), u12 coach knows soccer, (UEFA B, former pro player, 25 years plus coaching experience), U13 coach is phenomenal (basically getting an HP elite coach three days a week), U14 is the technical director (cannot speak to him as a coach). There are very few changes on the girls side this year, which is good, means Valor is establishing development pathways and stabilizing. A couple of the coaches I just mentioned joined Valor last year and has made material improvements to the program this year. There is still a lot to do, but it is improving. I am sure some parents not on the top teams feel differently, but what is mentioned above are facts, not opinion. Take it FWIW. |
Only Valor Marketing Guy would know all these details on the coaches...who have zero info posted online. |
Its totally just a rando parent who just happens to know the complete resumes |
I'm a parent and I think the u9 - u13 girls coaching slate is solid. And to my knowledge, none of what the previous poster said is inaccurate - people here were asking for resumes and a qualified response was given (even if it might have come from "Valor Marketing Guy") - so not sure why we are complaining about it.
I see SYC just released their coaching slate and it doesn't have resumes for those coaches either. |
u9-u10 coaches at valor are excellent |
If Valor wants to provide information to consumers, they should identify themselves as being from Valor--not pretend to be a parent-- and provide qualifications & bios for all of these "lead" coaches. |
How many clubs provide bios for all their coaches? Genuinely curious. When I look at the coaching lists for other nearby clubs I don't see bios. GFR is the only one I remember seeing this for at some point. For most I don't even see a "all our coaches have a minimum of an XYZ license". I think Valor has some issues but it seems like some people here are holding them to a higher standard than other clubs which is odd. Are you all looking up coach bios somewhere else? |
Not this year. Lots of unhappy U10 boy and girl parents across multiple teams this year. I assume you mean for next year? U9 Girls- Gabriel Portillo U10 Girls-Gabriel Portillo U9 boys- Carlos Guerra U10 boys- Abdul Mohsini (Does anyone know anything about these coaches?) |
GP - worked for PWSI (youth development, lots of current VDA players are from his coaching) for long time before moving to Valor. then got hired by San Diego Waves(some big name players were there), then moved back to VA. Focuses on Youth development CG - worked at Great Falls also developing young ages. AM - Worked at Valor for long time. Also HP Elite coach. works well with kids and development fyi I'm a parent who looks for excellent coaches in the area NOT just big name clubs. Above three are heavily being recruited by big name clubs like Loudoun , Arlington, SYC, etc. For any parents live near Valor club, U9 and U10 will develop very well. |
