I know of several Valor kids that are at VSA now. But that's a hike if you don't live more on the Centreville end of things. There are actually a lot of options within 20-30 min. I think it partly depends on how much you want to drive and how serious your kid wants to get. And a lot depends on the specific gender and age group.

I'm the first person who asked (20171) - I have a 10 year old daughter. A lot of her friends play in Valor, which would be the only reason we'd consider signing up, but it's very expensive and it gets a lot of complaints on this board.

Not a valor parent but 5 well selected tournaments is plenty. The older kids get injured a lot on the second day of tournaments. You need to be mindful on overuse.

And that's the problem. Herndon and GFR are the two options there. Both of those threads are just as bad if not worse than Valor. Not everyone can drive 40 min to an hour each way to practice 3 to 4 days a week. So we settle for Valor for all it's faults because unfortunately it's still a better option for our children and families ability to get them to practice.

Thanks, I think this is it, right? We may just end up settling for Valor.

Depending on where you live, there's also vienna, burke, bryc, south county, vsa....

Think of it this way. You set up the drill. The more advanced kids that have it down you then add in defenders. So it's harder for the top team but all the kids even on the lower team are taught how to shift and move the ball. I don't see how this is a bad thing.

Are they all in practice together or are the top kids playing against just their own team?

All separate.

Someone posted above that their team 1 always practices with Team 2 so I guess you only know what your own age group does.

Sure I am speaking from my experience THIS year. Others this year could also be different, but that comment was about last year.

That was my comment, and it was from this year. Our top team is always combined with the gold (2nd) team for practices and I dislike it very much.

I posted about 22033 (and 20151 is right across the street) and I have a 10 year old boy. What about Loudoun Soccer?? Going north on 28 is much easier than 66 in either direction or south on 495.

Loudoun or VRSC (both play in Leesburg.) Some Loudoun teams practice at Hansen, which is convenient to parts of Fairfax, but you won't know where your team practices when you tryout.

VRSC gets a lot of hate on here. Would that be better than Valor?

I think its just one hater whose kid got cut.

There’s an entire thread for VRSC that’s full of hate.

Yeah but if you skim through it, it definitely sounds like one guy posting over and over again. Maybe a few other haters sprinkled in.
