Briar won 8-3

Riverside won 9-6

So Briar Woods vs Riverside tonight

Briar winning was a shocker as well as SB keeping it so close with Riverside (which will win states yet again).

SB v Indy tonight for 3rd place/last regional spot
BW v Riverside tomorrow for the 'ship

I guess this isn't Indy's year (yet again). Enjoy Class 6 next year!

I told ya'll it's science. You can play dirty and win 'ships.

CANT ***

It's like life...if you can't spell, you CANT fix stupid.

Come on man I went to public skool!

I mean correct me if i'm wrong, but don't they have that talented sophmore?

YT has 5 underclassman on their roster. Does that qualify them as a young team?

Accurate - but for context, all 5 of them play a lot. The offense on the field when they scored the OT goal was 2 JR, 2 SO, 2 FR. The other underclassman is a starting defender, so the young part of the team has a big role.

After that win, is there a chance Yorktown now could make a push for the state championship?

no chance.... Langley choked as expected, I dont see yorktown even taking down Oakton after squezing by W&L and losing to a first round exit Herndon. Sorry Yorktown dad but the state championship for yorktowns gonna have to wait.

Just curious here. I see the posts about Langley and Indy getting a loss in district, but yet they still qualify for regionals. If you are still IN you still have a shot. The road may be longer, but if you lose, lose when it does not count. I would be very careful about writing off teams that get the "bad game" out of the system when there is nothing on the line-

District championship was on the line. Those matter too. Get a banner in the gym for that.

Lacrosse in this area is somewhat unique (especially in 6A) because it’s pretty much a given that the state champion will come from one particular area, the proverbial “Nova”. Might just be a product of the forum here and the focus on who is best in the state/rankings/etc in our collective conversation but let’s have some perspective on what success can also be - winning your district. That means something.

Was at the Yorktown @ Langley game.
Langleys number 8 seemed to be a little injured/ slower than usual. Number 7 on Langley supplied most of the goals. Yorktowns number 3 is a great ball mover and is definitely a higher level talent. Yorktowns number 2 and number 9 did not allow any Langley Shenanigans as Langley struggled to get something going on offense especially in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Langleys number 9 played a poor game at fogo, inversely, number 6 on Yorktown played a great game at fogo. Never bet against coach beer. Yorktown is a state contender.

It matters - but not as much. In 2022, Madison lost the region to Yorktown but still won States. People remember that Madison won three consecutive State championships. No one really cares that they lost in regionals. Similarly, if a college basketball team loses in their conference championship game but goes on to win a national title, that is what matters. UNC has done that four times.

According to MaxPreps, #9 only took four faceoffs and went 2 for 4. Overall Langley won almost 60 percent. Don’t think that is why Langley lost. Dumb mistakes in crunch time hurt them.

Madison won in 2019, 2022, 2023. Yorktown won in 2021 during the weird COVID season.

About 9 going 50%, he only took 4 faceoffs due to the fact on the 2 he lost Yorktown scored in transition due to the fast breaks Yorktowns fogo was forcing. Just thought that matters due to the fact it did play a big role in this game

Ok, 3 out of 4. Point is, they lost regions and won states in 2022.
