It will take years for the Republicans to FIX the border that Biden has totally broken.
It needs to begin with mass deportations of all the migrants who entered illegally under Biden. And, much stricter rules for claiming "amnesty."
A physical barrier would also help.

it was already broken.

OMG, what an absolute joke.

"Migrants were caught crossing the southern border of the United States more times in the past year than in any other year since at least 1960, when the government started keeping track of the data.

There were more than 2.4 million apprehensions in the 2023 fiscal year, which ended in September. That tops the previous record, set a year earlier, of more than 2.3 million, according to government data released on Saturday. During the 2021 fiscal year, there were more than 1.7 million apprehensions."

Everyone in a society having medical insurance is really a good thing. It brings down emergency room costs because people get better primary care. However, California can’t do it alone. California can’t afford to pay for every poor person in the country who needs medical care or is homeless and has mental health issues.

So now with millions more eligible for medi-cal insurance run by the state citizens who are poor are going to have MUCH longer waits to see doctors and specialists. This really harms poor Californias who are citizens.

There us such an emphasis on provide of for undocumented people in CA that middle class citizens are getting screwed. Case in point: Gavin Newsom just VETOED a bill that would have made all health insurance companies pay for hearing aids for children. Right now many do not so if you are making 80,000 and your kid needs hearing aids every three years that can cost $5,000 to 6,000 dollars you can rightfully blame Gavin Newson for not caring for your kid even though you have paid Ca taxes for years and years. My nephew had cancer and now needs hearing aids due to the side effects from chemotherapy. So frustrating fir his middle class parents that they just paid $5,500 while undocumented people can get theirs free.

There is nothing at all fair about letting in millions of illegal immigrants who are completely dependent on us for their livelihood. U.S. citizens are footing the bill. Vote Biden out.

+ a million
And, get rid of all the Democrats who are ignoring the problem.

Nah.
We need to get rid of do nothing republicans.
They can’t govern
They can’t build anything
They can’t fix anything
Worthless party.

Ooh, tell us about the Democrats in Congress who are sitting on the border bill/Ukraine/Israel aid because they consider the border proposals "cruel and inhumane." Apparently, refusing to allow million of illegal immigrants into the U.S. is "cruel and inhumane," according to LWNJs like you.

Why don’t YOU tell me. Tell me about this great majority of democrats that wield all this power…. And show yourself out now if you type the word “squad” .

Thr house progressive caucus has more than 100 members and is staunchly against restrictions on immigration like are being negotiated. And the hispanic caucus is making lots of noise about how it’s not a good idea to accept tying this to Ukraine and Israel aid and want some sort of legalization program attatched.

+1
Yep. But the PP will continue to gaslight, as we've all come to expect. It's what Democrats do when they know they're to blame. Utter cowards.

Can you just try making an argument that has actual logic in it?

How do you "fix" the border?

How do handle mass deportations?

Should we be rounding up all the funny foreign looking people? Just the Spanish-speakers?

DP. Wow. You really haven't been keeping up with the news, have you? So uninformed. Educate yourself next time so you don't appear completely ignorant.

A group of Senate Republicans have released their proposal to overhaul border policies from security to parole and asylum changes.

The group, made up of Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Tom Cotton (R-Okla.) and James Lankford (R-Okla.), has been meeting for weeks to try and put forth a border proposal with significant policy changes, not just additional funding for Border Patrol.

Border security: The proposal would bring back construction of the border wall and boost retention for Border Patrol agents, including changes to overtime benefits. It would also reimplement DNA testing at the border.

Asylum changes: This plan would make migrants ineligible for asylum if they transited through another country before showing up at the U.S. border, implementing what is called a “safe third country” rule. It would raise the bar of “credible fear” for asylum seekers from “significant possibility” to “more likely than not” in their home country. Migrants would be required to request asylum at a port of entry.

Parole changes: Parole would be limited to one year with the possibility of a one-year extension and would bar the Department of Homeland Security from “using class-based criteria to grant humanitarian parole.” It would codify the Cuban Family Reunification Program and spousal and children reunification for active duty military service members.

Authority similar to Title 42: This proposal would allow the broad suspension of entry for certain types of migrants, referred to as “inadmissible aliens,” if DHS decides it is necessary to “achieve operational control.” This authority is similar to Title 42, which allowed the U.S. to quickly turn back migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border for public health reasons during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The policy would also revive the controversial “remain in Mexico” policy that keeps asylum seekers outside the United States while their cases are processed. Many Democrats have said that if the border measures include that policy then they won’t accept the measures.

I was listening to a story on the radio the other day about a woman who fled Venezuela. She went to Chile with her daughter but then decided to leave Chile because she was a lawyer in Venezuela, but with Chile's paperwork and process, she couldn't work as a lawyer there. So then she was told she should go to the US because she would have an opportunity there.

How could someone in good faith suggest that you could just show up in the US as a migrant from Venezuela, automatically be accepted, and be allowed to go right to practicing law? And particularly when you can't even speak English? That's advice that's just plain wrong.

And why leave a country where you've already been accepted as a refugee, and where they at least speak your language and where you are far more compatible with the culture?

I think we need answers from migrants, "Oh, so you came by land, that means you passed through Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico before you got here. Why didn't you stay there? And while you consider your answer, "better economic situation in the US" is not a legitimate reason to seek asylum."

And, we should also find out who in these advocacy groups is coaching these migrants and advising them to come to the US for asylum when 80% plus are just economic migrants and are not eligible for asylum. Anyone giving bogus advice should be prosecuted for fraud, at the very least. Along with being called out for flooding and overwhelming our system which ends up HURTING ACTUAL, ELIGIBLE ASYLUM SEEKERS.

Look, the reasonable Locke (or is it Demosthenes? Valentine or Peter?) is launching their counter argument.

Well, first off, I'm not sure why you think we shouldn't welcome an intelligent woman and her offspring who are fleeing a ravaged socialist nightmare, and, being from a professional, educated class who has both studied history and felt the effects of a totalitarian regime, no doubt hate socialism just as much as you do.

But I get it. You're trying to make the argument that there's some ineffable "Spanish" culture that stops at the Rio Grande and surely she'd be happier among her own kind? That's what you implied, I believe quite deliberately.

The thing is, you're bad at this. Such a woman would probably vote Republican. Shed also probably speak at least some English and be quite capable of mastering more, which is more than I can say for you.

Maybe read what the poster wrote instead of just making things up? Frankly I think they just want rule of law. And anybody who doesn't want rule of law, to me, is a problem. While there are cases where the law does have to be overruled (which is why governers have the right to pardon), in general if you want people to obey the laws you do like, everybody has to obey the laws you don't like. If people can violate laws, they can violate any law they personally don't like.

Someone applying for amnesty is following the rule of law.

Like your family did when they came here.

DP. My family never applied for amnesty or asylum. Weird projection on your part. At any rate, here is what the proposal is re: asylum.

What part of "caught" and "apprehended" are you not understanding here?

If Biden wanted open borders we wouldn't even be bothering to catch them. Thus, your narrative fails, even based on your own citations.

Just curious what you think "caught" and "apprehended" means when it comes to Biden's border?

In Biden world, "caught" and "apprehended" means that the migrants transverse through several safe countries, enter the US illegally - not at ports of entry, are quickly processed by our over-worked border agents (who are not patrolling the border because of the sheer numbers of migrants entering), then are released into the US and given transportation to the cities of their choice. A small fraction of those entering are actually deported.
And, these migrants are not really vetted (that is a myth the left promotes) because many of them give fake names or their background cannot be accessed because of the countries from which they come.

The policy would also revive the controversial “remain in Mexico” policy that keeps asylum seekers outside the United States while their cases are processed. Many Democrats have said that if the border measures include that policy then they won’t accept the measures.

And this is why 3 MORE Supreme Court picks will be lost by the democrats.

Screw your own citizens. Focus on helping Central America first with free food, free education and free health care.

People fleeing poverty and asylum seekers are being politicized by countries who don’t like the US. Nicaragua is now allowing countless airplane charters to fly into Nicaragua from around the world. They get some money and screw the US as these migrants don’t stay in Nicaragua, they immediately leave and travel north to the US. It’s like a snowball as more and more arrive in the US, they post in social media and their friends and family decide to make the journey as well. It’s going to get worse and worse unless something drastic is done.
