DA vs ECNL vs everything else

Dude!

It seems like Mclean is in a free fall.

What the what!

Losing players, losing coaches, losing leagues.

Sounds legit.

Nepotism and politics OR the appearance thereof must be avoided at all cost.

Barely any MD 04 kids at the same NYC. Don't forget, this is a regional NTC. Not a VA NTC.

Half of starting field players would 5 players. There is no chance that McLean team has had 5 players at the NTC. That's simply a lie.

Is it possible that over a period of a couple years 5 kids were invited? Maybe, however getting an invite once and being invited back are totally different stories. There is no way there are currently 5 04 McLean girls at the NTC.

4 mclean 04s

1 Mclean 05 (Don't know if on roster but easy to check)

All at 04 NTC

Roster to prove it.

Feel free to defend it all you want.

Here is something even more humorous. Arlington 04 team beat that Mclean 04 ECNL team 3-0 at OBGC and again down at CASL I believe where ASA won the entire 04 bracket and Mclean did not even make the semi-finals. So how is it that 4 MYS kids from 04 are at NTC but ASA not represented beyond I hear one player?

Team wins and losses esp at u14 mean nothing to an NTC.

That is not the point. They are indicative of talent on the team. If a team had 4 starters at the NTC then they should not be losing to little old Arlington 04 from CCL.

Another clueless parent - likely from Arlington - scores of games mean very little in the NTC discussion. Kick and chase that ball!

Arlington 04 and younger girls will get their chance to prove their skills in
GDA every weekend starting this fall. If the players are that good, they’ll get into NTC.

Good might mean something different to a professional soccer scout then a parent. As I understand it, the players are evaluated for future potential using criteria.

What if the scout is also a parent?

Parents cant be trusted to objectively judge their kid right?

Why is a scout judging the kids they picked?

Where is the checks and balances in this?

A talent elevator should never evaluate the kids they hand picked. There is bias in that.

Bring in a third party. Send MA scout to NE and vice verse

Yep. "Green" will play CCL2 and any lower team will play NCSL.

This may be a CCL league thing. CCL wants clubs to play their top teams in CCL. If a club has their top team in another league, then they have to go to CCL2. This may have always been the rule, but now they may be trying to enforce it to improve competitiveness in CCL.

Maybe? This is the details on where MYS teams will play at which age groups:

After just receiving final word from one of the leagues for plans for the fall season, we are now able to finalize league placements for the 2018-19 Girls Travel Team program. MYS is pleased to announce the following leagues for our girls travel program:

The U9 and U10 Girls Green and White teams (birth years ‘10 and ‘09) will continue as they have in the single CCL division (Club Champions League) while the Gold and Silver teams will compete in NCSL.

U11 Green and U-12 Green/Pre-ECNL will participate NCSL in one of the top divisions, The White team will play in CCL II with the Gold and Silver teams playing in an appropriate competitive division of NCSL.

The U13 through U18 Girls White teams will participate in appropriate divisions of NCSL. The U13 – U17Green teams will participate in CCLII – a league that our coaches believe best position them for growth, development and competition. Green teams will continue to compete for top-level tournament brackets, State Cup, National League, and ERL. \ Green team players may be dual-rostered and able to utilize “Club Pass” rules as guest players as a potential pathway to ECNL teams. There are no changes affecting the ECNL program.

What criteria are evaluated at NTC? Has anyone seen an evaluation form?

Could this be looked at another way? Is McLean trying to bolster NCSL because it makes more sense to play closer to home? It is silly that DMV teams travel outside of the area to play league games. DMV clubs hav been used by the rest of the CCL clubs from day one. There is nothing in it for them. If WAGS / NCSL had simply listened even a little to club directors CCL never would have made it further north than Stafford. If NCSL had any clue today they’d offer the same model, affiliate with US Club and bring in the VPL and DMV CCL members under any set of rules they asked for. It is so crazy what is going on. Wake up PPs of the DMV!!

"U11 Green and U-12 Green/Pre-ECNL will participate NCSL in one of the top divisions, The White team will play in CCL II with the Gold and Silver teams playing in an appropriate competitive division of NCSL."

This baffles me.

1) Why is Green not in CCL as they usually are at U10? Why does anything need to change?

2) Why move Green and White to NCSL at all for U11/U12 in the first place?
Anonymous
And why not also move White to NCSL if Green/Gold/Silver are moving? Do they like CCL2 that much?
Anonymous
Because you can't be in CCL I if you don't put your top team in CCL I

If you have DA or ECNL your top team isn't in CCL I. Therefore, they must drop and play in the B league.

Shows you how pathetic it all is.

CCL is a fourth tier league at best and y'all are killing yourselves for it.

Driving 3 -4 hours to play the B team at Beach FC or SOCA.

I'll pass. Just staybhime and play NCSL or EDP (which is way better anyways)

Let's end the madness. The furtherest North DMV families should have to travel for leagues games should be Baltimore and furthest South is Stafford. Within those parameters, youhave some of the most competitive clubs in the Northest. Consider Arlington, McLean, Loudon, FCV, Btehsda, MUFC, Frederick, Pipeline, Baltimore Celtic, and VDA.

NP whispers “ecnl”.

After all these years, ECNL has not proven itself significantly in our area to be able to be enough of brand cachet for those not already heavily invested.

I’m sure the Mclean coaching staff pulled out all the stops this last year just in case and gave those girls a reason to stay beyond logo and rep. If not, I’m not sure what they were planning.

I'm going to have to challenge VDA. They have fallen so far apart, they don't even have enough players to send teams to San Diego for the final showcase. Only their 04 team survives.
