Yup, she rolled like a felled log. LOL.

Uh, that statement says nothing as we predicted. It gives no answers to any of the questions.

That's because the Queen/Charles have no idea what they want the future to look like aside from some generic pablum to put out short-term fires. They have zero strategic abilities when it comes to planning out the future of the BRF.

If you want to "slim the entourage" then you need to create completely new roles for Royal family members. That means pro-actively breaking with tradition. It sounds like Harry has been begging them to do this since he got married, but the leadership kept fecklessly deferring.

So dumb and unnecessary (on the part of the Queen).

Well damn, it's been barely 2 years since they got married. Do you think it might take a little more time to create an entirely new role for these two given the politics, security concerns and financial issues, among other things? This is all just playing out like they're stamping their feet about not getting their way immediately and completely disregarding all that is entailed in a decision like this which only feeds in to their image as spoiled brats.

Sounds like it:

Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives.

It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK.

These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.

Public funds = the Sovereign's Grant

Private funds = the Duchy of Cornwall incomes.

Ask any noble you meet in Great Britain if their land's incomes are public. They'll give you a look like 'poor, stupid fool'.

This is what Harry wanted in the first place. Too bad the courtiers tried to block him over Christmas - they could have avoided all this fuss.

Well, if some of the saner presses are anything to go by, this has been in the works for a while. So who do you believe? Your own mantra about an out of touch royal family getting one upped by Meghan Markle?

Dp- that they get to keep their titles, stay in the fam, move, and do less.

The titles won't be revoked for sure. Not sure why people were speculating that. Titles are for life. They are only revoked if you do something treasonous. There were some German princes with British titles and those titles were revoked during WWI.

But they are leaving the RF. Looks like they aren't going to do royal duties. The whole thing about funding independence makes that clear. Harry might still do some every now as part of a show with Wil, but Meghan ain't opening up any more hospitals or meeting victims of fire.

I hope they lose royal housing and the allowance from Charles. They are insufferable.

Does the "allowance" stem from public funds or private assets owned by the BRF? If public funds, then the "allowance" will go away. If from privately held assets, then the Queen/Charles will need to make a choice.

The entire problem is that the Queen/Charles refused to pro-actively make decisions. Harry forced them to act and now it will all play out in public.

Yeah, but here's the thing - Meghan met with the victims of the Grenfell fire before she even married into that family.

Just like Diana, Meghan can do things on her own or shocker - alongside hundreds of foundations and NGOs already doing work on the ground like the United Nations. Amazing concept.

As for the duties - I agree. I think this will leave Meghan and Harry more time to focus on their positions as:

President and Vice President of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust (there's 30+ countries to visit outside England/Wales/Ireland)
President and Founder of the Invictus Games
Co-President of the Sentebale Charity
Co-Founders of the Sussex Royal Foundaiton

And whatever else they have in their minds.

The point is you are not financially independent if Daddy still pays all of your bills. Words have meaning.

LOL this entire 190 page thread is gossip about gossip, aside from the 4 postings that copied official statements.

Grow up, people. No one was "forced."

Harry was given a decision. He wants to withdraw from the public fund, which means no royal duties for him. He has made that decision and it looks like there were talks already for some time. Maybe things were forced to talk more quickly due to the announcement, and it's entirely subjective who gets blamed, either a manipulative Meghan Markle, or the press, or even a nasty Kate. But they were ongoing. The Queen even didn't have pics of Harry and Meghan at her Christmas speech.

It's up to Charles to support him if he wishes from his private funds.

Maybe they will have their primary residence in Canada and just be guests at Frogmore when they make their required appearances in the UK.

Regardless of what the press says and the public decision that is announced, I cannot imagine this fiasco goes unremembered by the Queen or the Family. I would honestly be very concerned for the future if I was Harry or MM. HM likely won't retaliate quickly, but she also won't just pretend like this never happened with zero repercussions. Do you really think that no one in the Royal Family predicted that Harry or MM would use blackmail to get their way? Do you think they never considered that an unhappy outsider would be stockpiling evidence to use against them when she didn't get her way?

I wouldn’t hold your breath on them visiting countries for the Queen. That’s tedious and boring. Not for them.

I started to sour on her when it was not only expected, but demanded that every person of color lover her no matter her character.
She started off strong, wonderful, but quickly showed her true character was all about fame, money and playing the victim. I have the right to say that and to not need to like her just because we may share similar skin tone.
