Sadly, it’s usually women who refer to other women as useless drama queens around here.

^ Of course a nasty male doctor would say this.

What? No. I’m a very female non-doctor who truly believes most of the vitriol in this thread is coming from women.

Based on what exactly? Nothing, but your own condescending attitude when people have questions on this forum. You may answer them or not, but please stop trying to shut them down. You’ve been asked this repeatedly.

Again, what? I’m sorry, I’m actually very confused. I’m the OP of this thread. I have personally shared my adverse effects and encouraged others to as well. I don’t want to shut anyone down, far from it.

I suspect that posters who call women drama queens often tend to be other women. Go back to page 5 of this thread and the phrase is used there as well along with an accusation that we must not have any real friends to talk to. I could be wrong, but it’s pretty classic “it didn’t happen to me, so you all must be crazy and looking for attention”-type stuff. It’s just a hunch, it doesn’t really matter. Carry on.

Thank you to OP & to the person who posted the link to the study. I participated. I am in my early 50s & perimenopausal & got my period the night of both shots (Pfizer) 1 and 2. After #1 I had 16 days of bleeding; I'm only 5 days out from shot #2 but also bleeding. I do have irregular periods but not typically for that length of time. I'm fairly certain it's related to the shots. Must be some interaction between my hormones & my immune function. I do hope they study menstruating women more. And, I 100% am grateful to have been vaccinated & would do so again in a heartbeat (didn't even consider not getting 2nd shot despite my 16 days of bleeding after the 1st one).

I tend to have very heavy periods with clots naturally, not looking forward to the vaccine potentially exacerbating this.

Not yet anyway. Check back in 14 days, after you've been bleeding the whole time.

For real? You are for real?
But, having covid and long covid is so much worse!! Can't compare, no?

There's less evidence of this so-called "long covid" than there is for the disruption to cycles-which, while not seemingly serious, could point to something more detrimental in the long-term. "Long covid" is a bunch of BS.

NP. You just lost your credibility making that statement.

48, female.

Had my 1st Pfizer shot this past Saturday.

Today: menstrual pain (belly and low back; swollen breasts; headache; general muscle aches) + light bleeding.

Period is not due for 2 weeks and I am normally as regular as can be and very rarely have I had ovulation breakthrough bleeding -- and never associated with these types of symptoms. I will still get the 2nd shot, but very glad my child is not yet old enough and there will be more data before they're eligible.

Pretty much every story about weird/prolonged bleeding after the vaccines is women around your age. I would bet that young women are not as prone to this abnormal bleeding because they are not at an age where abnormal bleeding is more likely to occur in the first place. It is ironic that all these people are worried about their daughters' fertility when this stuff is mainly happening to women whose fertility window is long gone.

I recently heard on a podcast, by a dr. I respect out of UCSF, that it's common for an immune response to cause inflammation and inflame the uterine lining temporarily. I mean, if you are concerned talk to your dr. and get an exam but that explanation made sense to me and didn't seem alarming.

I was due to get my period the day following my 2nd Pfizer shot and now it's a week late. I had a complete tubal years ago and am not pregnant.

Abnormal/prolonged uterine bleeding can be alarming at any age. Just because it is more common in one’s 40s doesn’t mean we should shut up and go off somewhere to bleed quietly. One of the main reasons this topic has gained steam is because many 40-something women are experiencing this abnormal bleeding for the first time ever within days of their shot. I don’t personally believe this would have any bearing whatsoever on a younger woman’s fertility, and the PP didn’t explicitly say she does, either. The point, at least for me, is that if there’s no data to support these accounts and scientists/doctors are still saying “nah, it’s just stress!, then perhaps with a little more time we might know more about what unexpected effects to look for in other age groups.

I had several days of bleeding for the first time in a year and a half 3 weeks after my second Moderna shot. I had an ablation several years ago. My cycle-related migraines are also worse this month.

Had two Moderna shots. Had mild flu-like symptoms for second that resolved the next day. Mid-40s. No impact on cycle whatsoever.

I was due to get my period the day after my second Pfizer dose. 10 day late, it finally arrived today. I track my cycles though the Apple health app and my they are extremely regular. I'm not having overly heavy bleeding but today has been a nightmare. I'm experiencing symptoms similar to the day after the 2nd shot - every single muscle and joint in my body hurts horribly! I'm unable to even walk without pain. I've never had anything like this happen in the past and have to assume that their is an immune response happening that is throwing my body totally out of whack.
