CYA and SYA merger?

I believe they start tryouts for 2011 tonight. Go, see the kids and see what the coach has to say. Taking advice from this page is not always the best way to determine what clubs and teams are a good fit for your child. If your son likes the other players and the coach, and you get an offer you like, then you can make a decision based on having personal opinions. Its interesting to read this, and thousands of anonymous posts would not make my decision for my son.

How are the new tryouts coming along? Many outside kids from other clubs?

Only a handful of outside kids at 07 girls tonight. They had a good amount of girls show up.

07 boys had something approaching 100 kids. Most of SYA A and B teams were on the top fields. With CYA kids sprinkled in. My guess is about 2-3 CYA kids will be in top teams. 4-5 on B team... the rest will be on C and D squads if they get enough kids to accept. To be honest B team has the best coach, he can’t coach A team because son is on team.

I have heard the teams were pretty much picked before tryouts.

Very few openings since they promised the existing players they would keep their spots.

they promised existing players they would get *a* spot on *a* team, not keep their exact spot on their exact team.

I would hope so. Years of familiarity with a kid shouldn't be trumped by a few hours of drills

As I posted earlier some of the age groups were just too good at SYA. Pretty much red 07s almost all were told they had offers.... there going to be a ton of kids on top CYA team on third team now

How can they offer spots to every 09G if they are only going to have 3 teams when they have 4 teams combined now? Will they just have a large number of girls on each team?

I’m sure they are assuming some will drop out, and they will make bigger teams.

Well, if they are 2009s aren't they going from 9v9 to 11v11? Roster sizes can increase again by a couple, and conslidating as you progress to more players on the field makes sense.

We looked at trying out, but I don’t see any of those kids leaving. We’ve played them many times and I can recognize many of them.

Over half hace accepted places elsewhere at this point. Some went to Juventus, others to DMV United, and a couple to VA Union. Such a pity to break up the team - but CCL just wasn't going to cut it.
