That is true, but only in theory. Because right now, NOT all lives matter. You can't say "All Lives Matter!" when one part of the ALL is being discriminated against over and over.

We know this is true because time and time again, BLACK people are singled out and killed for simply existing.

Therefore, until BLACK lives matter, all lives DO NOT matter.

All means all.

Lots of these killings are problematic, but please don't scare people into thinking that they are targeted for simply existing.

Please go look up the murders. Plenty were killed for simply existing.

Won for dummest post on the internet today.

My only saving grace was I had some great co-workers who tried their best to shield me from much of it. They won and I quit but I just stayed to get the work experience on my resume even though I did secretarial and cleaning most of the time for them vs. my actual skill set.

I went to work for a county. White supervisor told me she was told not to hire me or any white people as they were looking for specific race but I was the only one qualified so they hired me. It was made clear I'd never be promoted and that my race was an issue. Not sure if it was good or bad she told me but it was clear what was going on in the agency.

These things should not happen to anyone of any race but they do. Its life. You either deal with it or leave.

Has absolutely nothing to do with the immutability of the name of this movement but thanks for the two cents.
It's Black Lives Matter and it's not changing.

That's fine but then the cause is for Black people, not all so stop putting out calls for White people to fix the problem when its not our cause. Our cause would be police brutality for all races. All races are impacted it but no other races who have faced police brutality are important and they probably deserved it according to many.

Okay.
Bye.

Typical white privilege. 'You need to change the name of your movement so we'll accept it!' What?

I haven't read all 20 pages, but OP, have you read the Movement for Black Lives platform?

Ready to defund the police? Ready to abolish prisons? Ready to dismantle capitalism. I support Black Lives Matter, AND it is absolutely a radical political movement, so if your problem with BLM is that the name isn't palatable enough, I'd definitely encourage you to do some more reading before you use the hashtag.

Yeah, so anyway
Putting aside all the distraction attempts and getting back to the subject of this thread
I just wanna reiterate that the name change thing y’all keep suggesting...
Yeah, it’s not gonna happen.

Okay, sure you had one bad experience. But, you can jog without getting shot. You can get pulled over for speeding without getting shot. You can shop in any store without makeup and get a hello (unlike a billionaire like Oprah). Your family hasn't been subject to systemic racism for generations.

Actually two, and yes, I can get shot for speeding. Look at the statistics of police killings. And, no I don't always get a help or help at stores, especially depending on how I dress. And, my family is jewish so yes, we do know a bit about it but my grandparents were too worried about surviving the holocaust, but let me guess, you don't believe that happened or it wasn't important.

When are yall going to realize that if and when racism ends for Black people it ends for everyone. Your stories f how you have been treated poorly go away to, the indtances of white people getting killed by cops ends if no people are killed by cops. The only downside to ending racism is you lose your privilege. Black people aren't seeking revenge... we are demanding respect.

What on earth are you talking about? If racism ends for Blacks, that does not mean it ends for other groups as well. You have a very narrow view of things. You can demand respect, but respect is earned and you need to earn respect for others. If you make racist comments, for example about muslims, no, regardless of your race I will not respect you. How you behave, your actions, your character and how you treat others all earn respect. No one should be entitled to respect because of the color of their skin. Racism is not just a black and white issue. And, plenty of white racists and plenty of black racists and they aren't going to stop their thinking so there is a far better approach, and one that includes getting better educations for your young people and ensuring that they at a minimum get a high school education and preferably a college degree to help those who have less get out of that cycle of poverty. Teach them good financial skills, teach them how to care for a home, a family and give them all they need - clothing, food, books and a roof over their head to make sure they are successful.

The killing by cops needs to stop. We all agree. But, it needs to stop for all races. Most cops are decent people just trying to survive and feed their families, just like you. Some cops are really good people who want to make a difference in their community. And some are bad. We need to weed out the bad cops, but also the bad people in every profession that works directly with people - teachers, nurses, doctors, health care workers, nursing home workers, social workers, etc but our court and other government and private systems are set up to protect those people. We also need to give our police more training to handle difficult situation, learn not to be aggressive or combative and educate them on basics like mental health and health emergencies (as people can come off looking unstable in health emergencies when its something very different). Just saying, hey we need to end violence by cops is a great start, but the real question is how are you going to achieve that. You do that by weeding out the bad cops and give lots of support and education the good ones. And, increase their pay as many of them aren't paid well and have to work multiple jobs which increases stress.

You have a very narrow way of looking at things. Racism doesn't end simply for fixing it for one group. Racism ends by fixing it for all groups. And, that includes the poor whites and other races, religions, groups who are equally suffering for all the many reasons out there.

Got it. You don't want to have a real discussion, discuss things like facts/actual statistics, you just want to push your cause. That's fine. Go for it but stop calling for others, well demanding, others support it when its a separatist movement that only cares about one racial group. You are no better than the people you are trying to get to change as you aren't willing to change yourself which continues all divide.

All this to say, you don’t support BLM unless they change to your liking. You will never and have never cared about police brutality until it happens specifically to your family. That’s fine. Just be honest. You don’t want a discussion. You want a whole movement to change to your liking. You don’t want to acknowledge black lives bc they mean nothing to you. Again, that’s fine. But don’t sit here and act like you are doing someone a favor by pretending to act like you would care or even support any movement. Your divide is already so deep and very clear.

It doesn’t come across that way unless you are ignorant of why the movement was formed. How often are the cops killing unarmed white menor Asian women and getting away with it?

You should do some research. You might be surprised. I know the mainstream media makes it seem like ONLY blacks people are killed by the police, but that is certainly not the case.

Okay, educate us please. What are the names of a few white men murdered by the police? For simplicity, let’s limit it to 2020. Anyone?

It took me very little time to find an unarmed white man named Tyler Hays who was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Tennessee on May 19. It didn’t even make national news, however.

Look, I am not arguing that black oriole don’t get killed by police at a higher rate as a percentage of the population. That’s a fact. But for you to mock this and minimize that ALL races are at some point affected by police brutality doesn’t enamor others to your cause.

Police brutality is an issue, ok? But white people don't generally feel they as a group are in particular danger when a white person is assaulted or killed by cops without justification. Second, they are less likely to start with the assumption that the person must have been doing something to justify the shooting.

White people know that almost all police shootings are justified, so they tend to have a different view. They also know that the vast majority of these shooting involve someone committing a serious felony or someone who repeatedly disobeys lawful commands by a police officer.

Did someone say they didn’t? You care about all lives so much? Go foster some kids. Go build a homeless shelter. Go start your own movement and protest that all lives matter. Make sure you stay on top of the police brutality and murders of civilians. Make sure you organize a rally each time. Then make sure you go to the police station to ask them how they fill about the murders. You won’t have any time to spend on DCUM.
