FCV parents - has anyone heard anything?

Team scouts has a daughter in the club and Christian and Bobby were supposed to be well connected in the DA world. Clearly NC Courage got the heads up and made the switch to ECNL before the DA demise. The head of ECNL has stated they are at capacity for 2020-21 so why are FCV and Arlington parents still hoping for a last minute ECNL acceptance? I guess we will need to get to the end of this week
and the announcement about both clubs joining DPL for parents to believe.

There have been rumblings for a year. How could the US Soccer scout not have known? As well connected as BP is, how could he have not known? Now my DD pays the price for their incompetence.

Or let’s see which new splinter league for ex-DA players is going to crop up next-so far, we have GAL and EDP/USYS. How about a third? ECNL coaches and TD’s must be falling on the ground laughing hysterically right about now!

Or weeping as they realize they should have let all the exDA clubs in to really consolidate talent into one strong, nationwide league instead of this persistence of 7+ “elite” teams in the DC area. Even if it meant overpopulation for a few years, it would have paid dividends in the long run.

That is what they are doing. Consolidating the DA talent. The top girls from FCV, Metro, and Arlington will disperse to the closest or preferred ECNL team. That will move the lower players on any ECNL roster out. Some teams will change dramatically and some with a tweak here and there. As a former coach in this area, whether things consolidated under DA or ECNL did not really matter. Either way would have ended the player dilution across teams. Match competition will be tighter across all games and clubs in ECNL. Teams will continue to recruit. Slowly ECNL will add a team into the fold if the volume of top tier players are there in any market. But the disparity of how bad and good teams in the bottom of DA and ECNL have been in various regions in the US shows there were too many teams trying to be elite and not enough elite players to match. This will all work out. Get your child to the best team and club for them and their level. MLS or ECNL or GAL or whatever. If they are good, they will be found.

Bobby lost his DA/Youth national team connections last year when he was removed from the Youth National Team coaching staff. His attitude towards players and soccer incompetence has rendered him out of the loop.
That is why he has been so quiet. It is not now and has never been his style to be quiet. He is an over communicator and thrives on social propaganda for FCV. He has been so silent because he had the floor removed from under him. He is now in negotiations to coach at Loudoun ECNL.

And Ms Drake has secured a spot for her Ex DA FCV daughter on an ECNL team. Ms Drake knew and took personal action. She is a mother, not an employee of FCV.

I've spoken to two, and they're preference would be to keep their teams together, and play in the ECNL. So, why aren't they being asked? Why aren't the players and families more involved in this decision? Aren't we the ones paying in? Why are we sitting around waiting for them to decide? I mean, how many in the FCV/St James leadership have daughters in this predicament? If the girls wanted the ECNL, they should get the ECNL and FCV/STJ should pull out all the stops to make it happen for them. Wishful thinking, I know, that they might actually want to do what's best for the players and their families. In any case, it's looking like the EDP is very much in play. Or at least, the EDP is the most obvious destination. After the collapse of the DA, they wouldn't dare take a chance on another startup league. Then again... Also worth mentioning, Puppione is listed as a member of Leadership Council at EDP. (https://www.edpsoccer.com/usyouthsoccer).

You realize that just because the girls want to stay together and play ECNL, that doesn't mean they get to? Just b/c they're FCV they should get what they want?!
FCV has made enemies all over the soccer landscape. Now they see how much they're hated as they're turned away from ECNL.
Also, all we ever hear is how much players hate Bobby- everyone hates him. Why would they want to play for him when
they now have an opening to leave?

Thanks to those providing this substantive information. Good for FCV parents not in the loop to know! Don’t see why Loudoun ECNL would want to hire BP but I’m guessing he thinks some players would follow...

It seems you know what’s happening behind the scenes apparently. Where is Drake daughter going? If Bobby goes to loudoun Ecnl that will be the last nail on the coffin for fcv but I doubt it since loudoun Ecnl already announced their Ecnl coaching slate....

McLean, She probably has already met at a round table trying to piece the team together. I feel sorry for those kids who have been loyal. It’s insane how many people buy into her redirect and follow her. She has one goal! To build a team for her daughter to look good and then manipulates to make sure her kid starts and plays. Her child is good at best and get what she gets for political reasons. As an ExFCV parent please please find a club that she isn’t going to. Good luck.

Interesting that McLean would be willing to immediately bring back players who left them. There are a couple other ex-McLean at FCV too. Will they all go back?
