She lives in the US legally so she won’t starve and unless she has mental issues she won’t be or stay homeless for long.
I think we have lost all perspective. We live in the developed world and it means every child from a normal, supportive family will be ok! |
| As if you need to be smart to make a lot of money or be a success. Lol. I’m completely average and I make bank in finance. Plenty of opportunity to do well in life without a high iq. |
| I was worried about my DD at that age (we didn’t do any IQ tests). She is now a Junior in HS with mostly As. It’s amazing how hard work and drive mean more for success. |
If you were top of your class then you are pretty and smart, the same situation |
Is this a joke or are you just stupid? |
In the working world, people skills can be a lot more valuable than brains. It she good with people or groups? Could you help her develop these skills? |
If she is ADHD get her some meds. You will not be sorry. Maybe get her pediatrician to let her try some out. |
+1 Smartest people I know, people with PhDs, don't make a lot of money. If you are nice, hard working and likable you can make much more. |
This. I'm in a leadership role in tech. I really have pretty poor to awful technical skills--nowhere near as good as anyone I manage. But I'm really good at leading people and getting them on board with me, and I'm organized. |
| Regular (stupid) people can get a 6 figure job. Calm down, she's 12! |
omg EVERYONE has A's. It is unreal how gullible so many parents are. Grade inflation has made grades MEANINGLESS. Even AP grades are fake unless the kid can back up the A's with 4s and 5s on the official exams. |

My cousin has a lot of learning disabilities and a lower IQ (she also has low muscle tone . . . it's all related). She works as a teacher's assistant at the same private school for kids with special needs that she attended. And she's fabulously happy. Compared to other "failure to launch" types in the family, she just went right from her special school to a special college to her job.
Now of course, there were obviously interventions that many people couldn't afford here, but it sounds like you have the time and resources to help your daughter find her "thing." You don't have to be smart or quick to be solidly employed or have a full life. |
| As long as she is above average looking, not overweight, and willing to work hard, she will do amazingly well |
+1 Pretty girls can still marry out of their problems. She may not have control over how smart she is, but she can control her weight and work on her looks. Boys don't really have that option. |
|
Ugh. All these appearance oriented marry well posts make me want to puke. You're all about to give them eating disorders, and make her dependent on a man -- who may later divorce her, be abusive, die, etc. I guess you'd say she can find another one, but that gets harder over time.
What if it were an average boy, of which there are many. Think of it that way, and we'll all be better off. |
