WHY do the finances mean there's something wrong with the wife? Clearly they both made terrible financial decisions. Most women join MLM schemes because they believe it will make money - an extremely poor decision, but not one that should get her murdered, and we have no idea that she did that against his will. There are photos of him with her at the events, wearing the t-shirts, wearing the damn patches. Also there apparently was a video floating around wherein she discussed how much HE wanted the third child. And in her pregnancy reveal (to him) video, he comments to the effect "I guess if you want it, it happens." Why people are putting all of this on HER, when they SHARED the finances, the cars, the house(s), the bankruptcy, the kids, is just just me and I find it stunning. This shit was not just her fault. They both made terrible decisions together. That he murdered her and their innocent children is really unrelated. That's not a normal response to having bad finances!

Because living well above your means, filing bankruptcy and being unable to pay your bills is usually an indicator of someone who lacks character. Being financially irresponsible is a form of dishonesty. Of course this is on BOTH of them. It silmply reveals she had character flaws. Once I read about the financial problems I wasn’t at all surprised her husband could do something like she did. Normal healthy people don’t live their life like they did.

Also an indicator of someone who lacks character: murdering your wife and two children. Maybe he controlled the finances.

What people are missing is that most likely there were significant signs this man is a psycho. His finances show that.

Personally I think had she taken some responsibility for the house she lived in with him, for the children she bore with him, for the mortgage, for the household expenses by GETTING A DAMN JOB they wouldn't be where they are now.

But living in lala-land and asking for someone else to shoulder all of the financial responsibility for a household of soon-to-be five when it was quite clear they were drowning in debt and growing finance restrictions...well, you get her and her fake facebook life.

Given that she had preschool children and an infant on the way, it probably wouldn't have paid her to get a job. It probably wasn't a good idea to have a THIRD child, though.

She did have a job at some point at a hospital billing place making $18 an hour. I don't know when or why she quit that.

The trips were supposedly on the MLM company's dime.

I thought the mortgage figure was from the bankruptcy documents and not necessarily the current amount they pay. I am very curious how they were able to keep their McMansion after going bankrupt, but maybe some deal was struck with the bank.

He was helping perpetuate the "fake Facebook life" too. He was helping her sell the MLM product and he was sleeping with his coworker and probably other women. I am always amazed at the people who say “get a job,” and know or don’t care that childcare will cancel out the wages from the job.

Many of my friends/acquaintances paid to work or made $2/hr after childcare was paid.

$2/hr not counting extra gas/food childcare inevitably cost them.

Chris Watts was a narcissist who screwed anything that moved to feed his ego, and was able to strangle his wife and kids because he cared more about his ego and sexual fulfillment than his family.
