by taking it over and over again. She can't get it prescribed by a doctor anymore because it's not safe so she gets it from Mexico. |
I do too. It's a tool just like any other. |
| updates from folks??? I'm seeing Dr. Anchors tomorrow and am nervous. But desperate. I like reading the good news/results stories.... |

Good luck 16:50! I posted last weekend about my first follow up visit (so, second visit). I've done really well this week, despite traveling for work, and seem to somehow be down another 3 pounds after staying put for about a month.
Although, I don't think I tried to hard that month. For me, I kind of like working to lose 10 pounds, then seeing what I need/is maximum I can eat to maintain that so I know what that's like. Then after a rest there I add a new element. So, first 10-12 was basically eliminating sugar, which was fine, since I don't really love it but have been eating it post preganancy. For second ten I'm working on adding in exercise and cleaning up diet a bit more, but in manageable ways. I'm sure for the last 10 I'll need to really commit, but so far it's been very manageable and a great experience. I was very nervous about pills, and I did feel wierd for the first 2 weeks, but adjusted really well and am fine now. But they are definitely still working/helping me along with new habits. |

Today is officially one month in. Down exactly 10 pounds. I'm 5'5 and started at 164 and saw 154 today. Clothes are starting to fit better, energy is up, and for the first time in a long time, I feel like I can actually get my health under control.
It hasn't been nearly as effortless as I thought it would be. I'm still hungry sometimes, and breaking bad habits like eating a night just because were hard. I was a 2L of diet coke drinker a day, and in the past month, I've had a total of 4 servings. Zero snacks. It truly is a life-changer to not be obsessed with food anymore. Someone a few pages back talked about how this drug wasn't a miracle, but allowed her the minute to step back and pause before binging or devouring something. That's how I'd describe it - it helps me pause before I make decisions. I've still got another 20 pounds to go, but I am feeling good. As far as side effects, other than the dry mouth, not much. If I take it much past 10am, I do find that I have some trouble sleeping. |
What did Dr. Anchors say about 10lbs in 2 months? Is that normal? Low? |
You'll see when you gain back at a rapid pace. It doesn't creep back, it comes pretty quick and you don't have a tool to suppress your appetite. |
| It is interesting that there are no updates from people 1 year later or more. Of course the first few months will be awesome, but what happens after a year? |
Are you speaking from experience or just speculating? |
Yes, I hope we can keep this thread going to get a better idea about long term effectiveness. I'm on month 5 and must say it definitely isn't working quite as well anymore. I could easily binge on stuff if I allowed myself. I'm patient at a clinic here in SoCal and they recommend increasing the dose to 1.5 to even 2 pills a day. I would assume that will only work so long, though. I should add I'm not technically overweight and doing this for vanity pounds. Maybe the phentermine works longer/better for patients with more weight to lose. |
Experience unfortunately, though only phentermine not phen pro. |
Could you give more info, that would be really helpful. We're you still dieting when you regained the weight? Was it just from overeating when your appetite returned? |
It was actually 12 pounds. Based on what is on this board I was worried it was low, but he said I did great and was very encouraging. It was the boost I needed to commit to the next 10. The goal for me isn't to drop as much as possible as fast as possible, but to make smaller changes that I can live with. So, I know it's not a ton, but I'm making consistent and regular progress and that's what I want. I think that also makes it more likely to stick after I stop taking pills. |
More info please. How long did you take it for? How much weight did you lose? How many calories were you consuming during the time you were taking it? I imagine all of those things come into play. For example. If you only take in 700 calories when you're taking the pills because you want to drop the weight really fast and then when you go off you can't possibly sustain that, I'm not at all surprised. However, I eat good 1300-1400 calories per day or veggies and lean protein. I am trying to make changes to my diet now that I know I will be able to sustain long term. This is not a miracle pill. If you abuse it, of course the weight will come back. |

I'm doing the 2 week trial for Qsymia. I'm a week in and I haven't lost an ounce. I don't feel differently at all either.
I seem to be tolerating the medication fine. No constipation (as someone earlier on the thread mentioned). Frustrated. |
