Only at the FBS level. FCS are not required to be full scholarships. Walk-ons don't get any money and more athletes than you think are walk-ons not scholarship athletes. |
Yes. This is factually incorrect. You can literally google this… Ever heard of a Walk-On? Ever heard of FCS? Division 1 FBS, sure. But there’s hundreds of D1 schools with players on partial or no scholarship. |
Hmm I guess the countless YouTube videos of DIVISION 1 FBS football players being surprised with scholarships randomly throughout the season must all be fake… |
Do you understand that you think 1 out of every 5 players at STJ has a legitimate shot of making it to the NFL?
|
| 1 out of 25 may be closer to reality |
Are you capable of simple math? 10% is of course not 1 out of 5. The top 10% of players on a team ranked in the top 20 in the nation in fact at that point in time have a legitimate shot at the NFL at that moment in time. They are 4 star and 5 star recruits. Will 10% make it to the NFL? Of course not. |
There is not a single player ranked a 4 or 5 star by ESPN, 247, or any other ranking service on STJ… STJ is also not ranked in the Top 20 in the nation. MaxPreps ranking is all that matters. STJ is ranked 6th in VA. Are you insinuating there’s 6 VA teams ranked in the Top 20 nationally? |
Yeah but they are the best team in Virginia. |
Based on your opinion. But ranked by people who actually know what they’re talking about, they’re the sixth best team in VA. |
I mean...they are ranked #2 in the DMV and absolutely destroyed Good Counsel. I am sure a game against Dematha would have been a great game...hopefully they schedule more WCAC teams next year. Are all the top VA football teams in southern VA? |
Good Counsel went 6-5 during a down year, not exactly a great measurement benchmark. Yes, the top 5 Virginia teams are outside the DMV. Still waiting for someone to post all the 4 & 5 stars that STJ supposedly has
Or where they’re ranked in the Top 20 in the nation
People just spew the most uninformed crap on here lol |
It’s their first year in existence…what other measurement do you want? Their only loss was to the #2 ranked HS team in the country who I am sure would have destroyed any team in the DMV or the entire state of VA (which you know is true). |
You mean they only lost to the national champs. |
Good Counsel had a far more difficult schedule than any of the Virginia teams you are talking about. Those teams probably wouldn’t come out on the winning end if they had to face Good Counsel. Look at what happened when Oscar Smith played Gonzaga. And most NFL players were only 2 or 3 stars in high school. Five stars make up about .01% of the NFL. There is far too much transformation that needs to occur to tell if a high school kid will make it to the NFL. However, the two kids I know that play for Saint James dominate the way a future NFL player would’ve when they played high school football. |
Half the teams they played no one has ever heard of. Besides Hun, a bad Good Counsel team, and the absolute ass kicking they got from SFA… who did they actually play that was formidable? I mean honestly, you think a first year LSA is good? Hewlitt was 1-8. The First Academy was 5-5 and only beat 3 teams with a winning record. St. Thomas Moore is ranked 143rd in Connecticut lmao. Yes, I agree that SFA, the PRIVATE Baltimore powerhouse, would destroy any PUBLIC school in Virginia. Would they beat Dematha 35-0? Probably not, but that’s opinion. What other measurement do I want? None. The measurements that matter for ranking work for me (MaxPreps having them 6th in VA and not even top 100 in USA). The measurements the matter for player rankings on ESPN & 247 (that show ZERO players as 4 or 5 stars) work for me. Just stop spewing straight up lies bc of some Overton, fetish? The amount of misinformation put out on STJ is crazy. Let’s recap the lies told here: Top 20 team in the nation. - FALSE (not even top 100) They’re 4 and 5 star recruits - FALSE (not a single one) 10% of the team have a legit shot at the NFL - Ridiculously FALSE |
