“National champs” You mean the team that lost to Bosco and played an exhibition game against a 39th ranked PUBLIC Corner Canyon school who didn’t even beat all their public school opponents in Utah? That wasn’t a “national championship” in the eyes of anyone that knows ball. It was an exhibition sponsored by Overtime. A true national championship would’ve at least had an opponent in the top 5. |
Post the 247 or ESPN profile of those two athletes that dominate like future NFL players that show them as even 3 stars. I’ll wait… |
“Five stars make up .01% of the NFL” ANOTHER LIE. You can’t just make up percentages and spew them as fact. On average, it’s somewhere in the 7%-11% range. I’d type out the math for you, but I don’t think you’re capable of factual and statistical comprehension. |
One kid that I know who dominates is a sophomore d-lineman and he wouldnt get a star rating until closer to his senior year. The other is a wide receiver and 3 star Maryland commit. He has the size and speed. Again, a lot needs to happen, but I can see these two getting there. Josh Allen was a 2 star, Dak was a 3 star, Patrick Mahomes was a 3 star, Lamar Jackson was a 3 star, etc. These kids are still in high school. You are putting too much stock into a 5 star rating. |
If he dominates like you say he does as a sophomore, he’d have a star rating. For example, Stone Bridge has 2 sophomores already rated as 4 stars and 247 already has a top 100 for the class of 2028. I’m not putting any stock into an any star rating. I know walk-ons who have made the league and ranked players who didn’t make it thru their first year of college. All I’m doing is pointing out that you/whoever said that “STJ is 4 & 5 star players”, is simply not true at all. Josiah is arguably their best player and is only a 3 star. People say random bs that they think sounds good/believable that just flat out isn’t true. Just trying to stop the misinformation. |
Stone Bridge does not have 3 star sophomores. They have 2 seniors that are 3 stars. |
No one said they have 3 star sophomores. I said they have two 4-star sophomores which is true. Here’s the link since you’re incapable of finding things on your own and just wanna spew more lies: https://247sports.com/season/2028-football/RecruitRankings/?InstitutionGroup=highschool&State=VA |
Josh Allen had no stars and zero offers out of high school. He went to juco. He was recruited to Wyoming because their coaches came to see a teammate of his. Year in and year out, all the experts get the qb position wrong - at every level. |
| And by the way, the star system is a joke. Get an offer, then other schools see you have an offer, so they offer. Then 247 says, oh wait, bro has 9 offers, he’s a,a, a two star no he’s a three star ! |
| The StJ kids are talented, but hard to argue there are sure fire pros there. A lot of that depends on how they develop in college. A great example in the Turner brothers out of Centreville. AJ was highly regarded recruit with many offers who played at South Carolina. He had a solid career but never made it to the next level. His brother, Kobie, was not as highly regarded and walked on at Richmond. He developed into a great DT and transferred to Wake Forest and was drafted in the 2nd round. He is now one of the best DTs in the NFL and no one regarded him as a scholarship player out of HS. Development and character really determine these kids futures. Sadly I don’t think the online school at your own pace sets you up for the rigorous schedule all athletes face at the college level. Also, Overton has been putting these recruited teams together for over 10 years now. How many NFL rostered guys has he produced? |
Do you have any clue about the life of D1 athletes in revenue sports at Power 4 schools? There is no "rigorous schedule", unless you are talking solely about the training schedule...academics are literally an afterthought. My kid trains in the off-season with a player on the Tennessee baseball team and he said they literally have people who take care of their schoolwork, because he needs to be training 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. |
Most parents aren’t trying to get their kids to the pros. They want want scholarships to college. |
That’s pretty much how it goes. I see kids who have parents with connections, get them unearned offers. Now certain doors may open because the kid has offers on his resume. |
Right! If a kid isn’t registered on 247 or some other site giving a star rating, people can’t prove an athlete is a 3, 4, or 5 star. Some poster above is talking about a couple 4 star sophomores at Stone Bridge, while saying Saint James doesn’t have any 4 or 5 stars. Another is stating, Saint James has the most dominant sophomore d-lineman in the DMV, but there is no record of a star rating for the Saint James kid. He probably hasn’t been registered on any site where he could get a star rating and/or maybe this kids parents don’t have the money to send him to the camps that would get him recognized as such. I’m not saying who deserves to be a 4 star and who doesn’t, but there was a sophomore d-lineman mentioned in the Washington Post’s All Met selections and I didn’t see any mention of any sophomore DB’s from Stone Bridge. |
| Washington Post’s All-Met list is the laziest and worst post season recognition around anymore. They do a terrible job, but you can’t put too much blame on them considering it’s 1.5 people covering the entire area for all HS sports. |
