3-4 out of 150ish wouldn't move the needle. Would need 10-12 net loss to make a dent. Was last year a net loss or gain for ECNL? |
It all depends on who switches over. If SD Surf changed from ECNL to GA most clubs would follow. |
BTW MLS is already working on SD Surf boys. https://www.sandiegofc.com/news/news-san-diego-fc-partners-with-san-diego-surf-soccer-club-to-help-grow-the-beautiful-game-in-san-diego-county But don't let this get in the way of your narrative. |
You're sock puppeting your own invented narrative of a butterfly effect. |
Stop embarrassing yourself |
|
Folks in all forums are worried about their ECNL clubs looking for MLSN entry.
|
Can you clarify how someone would embarrass themselves in a forum where responses are anonymous. |
| So SDFC partnering with all the local clubs in San Diego… Surely there will be a rule soon that they will have to be mls next right? |
| Hmmmm….How did the whole DA experiment (jumping into the DA boys bandwagon) work out for these big girls clubs before? Oh that’s right- it folded and clubs were left scrambling to try to get back into ECNL. Some never made it back in. Those that were lucky and did and those who watched it all unfold won’t forget so quickly how an unproven test on the girls side can come crumbling down.No big club is jumping into this… |
I don’t think clubs care. It’s a new age. Soccer in the US is growing, and everyone knows it. DA folded but then it transitioned to MLSN. ECNL may try to leverage clubs, but losing boys to MLSN is a big issue and will continue to be an issue. Times are changing man. |

75/25 is a hard nut to crack.
Times may be changing but do you want your daughter at the front end with the 25 or the 75? Honest question. 99% on this board bet with the 75 when the time comes. |
Look, if your kid's got the talent, they'll get seen in ECNL or GA. All the big colleges were at the last GA showcase, too. You can be in ECNL and still not get recruited if they're not putting in the work. Don't let the ECNL coaches on here sway you too much. And hey, don't forget, both the current National Female College player of the year winner and the US Soccer Young Female Player of the Year came from GA. |
That’s not how math works. Those percentages are for the leagues overall. They don’t apply to just one player. ECNL has 75% of college players because those players played on ECNL teams, not because they were in ECNL. If those same players had played in GA they still would have gone to those same colleges. It’s the players not the leagues. Your daughter’s chances will be the same in either league because she is still the same player. |
lol.. and roster limits will make it harder for kids to get scholarships. They will take the cream of the crop from ecnl and GA. If you kid is middle of the pack on their current team…..forget about it |
This is 1000% true. Sometimes top players even choose the team or league they play on because it's where they get the most minutes and are able to score the most goals, or be the best mid/defender/keeper. Getting recruited is a mix of standing out on the team and being on a winning team. Both of these generate attention from scouts. If the same scouts are at GA and ECNL events it doesn't matter which league you play in. What does matter is if your able to get noticed. |
