lol must be a girl dad ECNL hat. When mls drives in revenue, you will see how much clubs care about the girls side. team will still be filled. |
| ECNL dad hats can be a little much but your take is ridiculous. |
This only works if you're not sending too many clubs to your main competitor (GA). Also once people know what ECNL plans to do they'll know how things will play out from specific actions taken. Meaning xyz club leadership will tell abc club leadership that they're changing to MLSN for boys. This will be a signal that their girls will be going GA. Now ABC club has more leverage with ECNL + if ECNL pisses them off in any way they'll move to MLS + GA as well. For years girls ecnl has been ignored which has allowed ECNL to carve out a niche. But now that MLS is partnering with GA the girls market is no longer being ignored. |
| What kind of leverage can clubs pull at this point…from ECNL? From the outside looking in, it looks like they are cornered right now and will have to pull the impossible. |
Not sure what doesn't make sense. MLS Next top league * ECNL boys second league * * MLS Next and ECNL leagues are structured differently ECNL girls ** GA ** ** Structured exactly the same MLS Next and GA are now working together the same way ECNL used to forcing clubs to do both ECNL boys and girls if they want ECNL girls. For boys most clubs would prefer MLSN. For girls clubs might want ECNL but GA is the same thing + if MLSN forces ECNL girls clubs to switch to GA everything changes. |
| Don’t think MLSN would do that but if they do, game changer |
Except where your logic assumes GA and ECNL are equivalent. TODAY that is not the case. |
If MLSN (not academy)=2, ECNL G = 1.75, GA =1, and ECNL B = 1.5, then ECNL adds up to more than MLSN/GA. In this scenario boys prefer MLSN but it is in clubs best interests to go ECNL over MLSN/GA. Not sure how ECNL is cornered. |
No one is saying that lol. The structure of the leagues is almost identical. Only difference is ECNL let’s 5 or so teams from every conference go to Washington to get pounded by SOCAL |
This person is saying they are equivalent, "girls clubs might want ECNL but GA is the same thing" |
So you're ECNL team can beat NEFC? |
He won’t say which ECNL team His kid plays for. He will just rock a ECNL hat. As long as you are associated with ECNL your kid is automatically better than any GA kid. Probably plays for the riverhounds lol |
You might be responding to the wrong comment. Someone said, "No one is saying that lol." in reference to "your logic assumes GA and ECNL are equivalent." And then I pointed out that someone said, "girls clubs might want ECNL but GA is the same thing" |

Listen- it’s going to take a loooong time before the ratio of college recruits moves anywhere away from ECNL —which is sitting pretty at 77%
No parent is going to agree to jump on some bandwagon to help GA launch a takeover if it means their own daughter is in a worse exposure position for college. It’s all fun and games until your kid is the guinea pig on some long term experiments And this is exactly what will happen for every parent who has a U-8 daughter now. It will take 8-10 years for GA to move from <30% to 77%. Most parents on these boards don’t have that kind of time. So I guess it’s up to the U-6 parents to drive this change forward. Parents will take their girls out of c |
All it will take is 3-4 big ECNL clubs switching from ECNL to GA and it will be over. |
