They met backstage and talked. Perhaps the show runners were telling her to hurry up as the show did run late.

Yeah, I think at the end of the day, she's not a rude person. She's just not. Love her/hate her music, you can never call her rude. So she made a gaffe, it happens. It was a big moment and she screwed up.

I mean, judge by her actions. I actually thought she was rude all night. I thought her first speech was rude and weird with the album announcement, and I thought the second one was even worse with the fake shock and her dragging Lana up and ignoring Celine and then her speech was very self-centered and lacking in awareness.

I would not previously have said she is a "rude person" but her behavior at the Grammy's was very rude IMO. I would not dismiss it as "a gaffe." Maybe she was drunk or on something, maybe she was just in a weird mood, but I found her behavior quite rude on a night filled with actually a surprising amount of sweetness and kindness, for the music industry. The fast car duet, Miley getting her first Grammy and using the opportunity to praise Mariah, that Joni performance.

Taylor and Jay were the sour notes for the evening for me and I think they are both responsible for their tacky, rude behavior. It was especially obnoxious coming from two people who are so successful and have been honored/lauded so many times.

Nothing she did would have made you happy so whatever.

She will be playing her 3 hour shows again starting next week and being the hard worker that she is making people happy.

I know you want to believe that but the truth is the people are annoyed with Taylor because she didn't rise to the occasion. If she had, she'd be getting heaped with praise for being classy and gracious.

Case in point: Miley Cyrus has done some immature, ridiculous things in the public eye, and I think a lot of people (myself included) are primed to roll their eyes at her behavior. She impressed me so much last night. I think Flowers is a great song, I love the story of how it came about, her performance was wonderful. But what really got me is how together she seemed all night, how thoughtful and gracious her acceptances were, just how mature she was. It really feels like she's coming into her own after going through a lot of growing pains. And by the way, she's younger than Taylor and has been in the public eye for longer, so the excuses Taylor gets about "well she didn't have a normal adolescence" or "she's still really young" don't apply here.

People will not actually criticize Taylor no matter what. People are responding to her actual behavior. She was very off last night and it deserves to be called out just like it would be if someone else behaved that way. If anything, she's getting some slack because she IS Taylor Swift and people give her a lot of leeway. If a less established artist had behaved as she did (Olivia or SZA, for instance) people would be draaaaaggging them so hard right now. Taylor's getting some deserved blowback. She should take the note and do better next time.

I find it hilarious that Miley is being used as the benchmark for how to give an acceptance speech, when Miley closed her’s by announcing to the audience she wasn’t wearing any underwear.

I was thinking this too (but then she had to burst the bubble by ending her speech with with "and maybe I'm not wearing underwear"!)

I just saw the video of Taylor dragging Lana on stage and all i can say is WOW. Lana was holding on the chair in the beginning and tried to step back several times. So happy for Taylor's big win that was a very selfish moment.
Anonymous
It's interesting--she doesn't act that way in her concerts. She has such command of the stage and a level of maturity you don't see when she's at these award shows or in the suite watching Travis. Maybe this is just her security blanket like what she does when she's in a situation she's not comfortable with like any of us might be in a social situation. Performing is her wheelhouse. Being in the public eye or attending these awards shows maybe isn't and she resorts to child like behavior to cope.

Same here. Taylor appeared to literally drag Lana up on to the stage, where she attempted to hide until Taylor insisted that she come out. Very awkward, poorly handled moment.

Did she actually do that? Why?! Lana is so talented and has a very loyal fan base and so much respect. I think it's rude and condescending if it happened the way described here. She needs no hyping.

They came together and sat together and Lana was featured on Midnights, so it is not totally random.

^ Taylor was looking out for her all night from the time they arrived: https://www.tiktok.com/@enews/video/7331921555582209323

Taylor means well but her intentions don't translate that in her actions. It was insensitive to bring Lana up. The poor girl has been snubbed for years. She didnt have time to process the loss before being dragged up on stage to celebrate her friend's win. Her immaturity is staggering

I agree but maybe Taylor was thinking about Lana sitting at the table by herself, which she would have been.

And? It is weirder to act like Lana del Rey would feel like some shy forgotten girl for being alone for a little bit. Sometimes it feels like Taylor Swift is stuck in high school.

Sometimes? She always seems like a high schooler to me.
Point1- her lyrics. She’s in her 30s not some 16 year old pining for her summer crush
Point 2- the girl squad. WTF is that

Lana was visibly uncomfortable with going as well. She wasn't pushing back in bashful way. Being friends with her seems exhausting.

I'm a Taylor fan and I have to agree with this. She was very hyper and kind of aggressive - what was the deal with her beating on Jack Antonoff when he got a shout out for his Grammy? And then dragging Lana on stage at the end when she clearly didn't want to go? Maybe she's a bit overwhelmed/overworked with everything going on? Burning the candle at both ends and then taking something to keep going?

She has said before she suffers from a bit of emotional dysfunction - ie, getting overexcited - maybe it's all a bit much, even for her. Look at her schedule - last week in Baltimore, then a day in Kansas City, then to LA to get ready for Asian leg of tour/new album/Grammys, Grammys, flight to Japan, 4 shows in Tokyo, flight back to Vegas, Super Bowl, flight to Australia....

She hasn't looked her best either lately. Hope she's OK.

I thought that was funny. I'm not a puritan, I just don't like when people are rude. That wasn't rude.

Miley's a wacky little thing. I don't love her singing voice, but I like her courage and some of her songs and her reverence for the elders. I also liked her big hair by the end of the night.

Also, her body is ridiculous!

That's funny, all I noticed about Olivia Rodrigo was her giant veneers. Surprised when singers go for those, seems like it would throw your mouth/jaw off and potentially impact articulation/vocalization...

The bar is legit that low. That’s what’s so surprising about all the others.

I actually like her singing voice. I like when she uses it to actually sing. Sometimes she trends towards these shouty/talky songs that I feel like don't suit her.

Taylor was clearly high or had a good buzz going on. Lacking poise and polish and reeking of immaturity. She totally snubbed Celine. But what do you expect from someone who is told there are amazing all their life? Grammy winning artist. Toilet-licking human being.

I am surprised this more people haven't said it. she's under the influence of something and all of her inhibitions flew out the widow. She's touring, going to football games, and in the midst recoding her album. is that not nose candy
Anonymous
I can see myself being so overwhelmed and excited that I get tunnel vision in the moment and retreat to my familiar friends. And then feeling ridiculously bad about snubbing anyone. I think Taylor is at a time where she feels she has to be the same otherwise it will wreck what she has. She can’t turn it off but I expect that she will learn from this and hopefully get a little more graceful.
