| 20:13, please start a new thread with your question. This thread is about the the 15 year veteran teacher charged with raping the boys. |
How does the school move forward if this was the case, and administrators covered up? |
No I’ll ask it here thanks. 20 pages of you repeating the same post isn’t any more interesting. |
| I send my kids here and it’s a wonderful school. Diverse and friendly kids, wonderful caring teachers, amazing education. I can’t say enough good things. The administration did not do enough to protect these kids against this teacher, that’s for sure. Will I be pulling my kids out of this school? No. Just like many other current families, we feel the school will now be even more vigilant with this stuff. Do I feel like there is some sort of sexual abuse culture that’s part of the school? absolutely not. I know many of the teachers on a personal level, they are moms and dads who have their own kids at this school and who are horrified by Chris bendann. Don’t get me wrong anyone that suspected or knew about the abuse and did nothing should be punished. Private school culture in general is a place where the teachers form close and special relationships with each kid, and that’s what we love about private school. This teacher took advantage of that and the school failed to set boundaries. Seems like going forward they will be way more vigilant. It seems like all the rich parents on the board will see to it. |
Bless you. Most parents felt just like you last time sex abuse teachers got caught. How exactly do you imagine the school will now be more vigilant? |
People think school administrators should have reported rumors about their teachers assaulting students for 15 years. |
You're rude and crude. And repetitive. |
Most of us concerned parents think school pedophiles are rude and crude, and yes, repetitive when allowed. |
I think the point they are making is - are you going to pull your kid out of school, when a bad situation arises at school, not let him play sports if a coach is arrested? Unfortunately, it’s everywhere and you seem like you want people to say that the school knew an active pedofile was working for them and they hid it. I don’t think they knew, let’s be serious |
We all think ill of pedophiles. DUH. We don’t need your lectures. You’re not coming across well here being rude to Gilman families like that. You’re not a nice person. Maybe go back to church and learn some humility and grace. |
Ditto to every word. Thank you. - current Gilman parent |
No, teacher pedophiles are not in every school. That’s a myth. |
Do you really need me paste links about abuse cases at McDonough, Friends, Park, and the area public schools? Because they are certainly there. I wish it weren’t the case and we could pretend that this was an isolated and easily preventable occurrence. But it’s not and it’s not. It does look like Gilman will be taking a sharp look at some of their policies, and how they are enforced. But there’s no evidence of a cover up or negligence, so far. I am a current parent, who is, of course, keeping a close eye on developments, but so far the only one I blame is Bendann. https://www.thebaltimorebanner.com/education/k-12-schools/gilman-school-sexual-abuse-by-teacher-R6PAWRCWLRHEHOT4LZSFB62CPM/ |

We have zero evidence that teacher pedophiles are in “every” school. That’s a blatant fallacy. Schools with ongoing histories of longtime employment of pedophiles are most concerning.
Gilman needs to allow victims, current and former students, to pick their own therapists that Gilman will pay for. Who wants to confide of their sex abuse to the school’s carefully selected counselors? That’s creepy as hell. |
Gilman is doing this already as part of their plan moving forward. They have also brought in outside therapists not employed by the school For the students and on the weekend has outside therapists for the parents. |
