Maybe this will kill demand for SW flights and I can rebook my spring and summer flights for lower prices!

I don't know if you were referring to my post, but I said that when making a travel budget people should account for things not going perfectly and at least have some sort of contingency budget for a couple of day or to allow flexibility. I am not going to dictate what someone does with their money, or say that poor people shouldn't travel. Delays, hiccups, broken reservations are all thing that happen when people are traveling, and aren't typically remedied immediately.

Just stop. This goes way beyond typical delays. 5 extra hotel nights is significant for many people.

In general, people shouldn't do things they can't afford.

Even poor people want to travel to see loved ones once in a while. You don't know if someone is traveling to see their terminally ill relative.

You will need a plane, pilots, and flight attendants to fly. You can check on at least one of those now.

Good advice. The plane from the previous destination is in the air. It left on time. But our same flight yesterday was delayed 4.5 hours. My flight is at 1. Heading to airport soon.

Fingers crossed that they have a crew for you. Is the flight returning to the previous destination? Might even be the same crew if it’s not a long haul.

The planes are not the problem. They have no way to know where their crews are let alone get them where they need to be. Some of you need to quit DCUM and look elsewhere to see what’s actually happening.

I hope you make it but really wouldn’t count on it. Some of my family members were stuck, rented a car and drove 2,000 miles home when rental cars were still available.

I am part of terrible stuff too. Flight home from middle of country to n Southwest cancelled on Tuesday. No flights home on SW until Saturday. In meantime our family dog died and we weren’t there. I have a distraught DC who wants to go home so bad. Found an expensive flight on Thursday but looking for other ideas.

I have always been loyal to SW but this is too much

I am not poor and I do not plan every vacation assuming I will need multiple days of extra lodging, car rentals, food, etc. In a first world country there should be no reason we are canceling 2800 flights everyday from a snowstorm a week ago.

We went to Hawaii last winter break and remember worrying our flight would be cancelled as thousands of flights were being cancelled daily. This seems like a repeat of last year except there really was a weather emergency. Add in Covid, flu, RSV, what a disaster.

Huh? Planes are also part of problem. If you have no crew to fly to a destination then that destination has no plane for the next flight. You need a plane, pilots, and flight attendants. We had issues with two of the three this week. I do know what is actually happening.
