I can across this ECNL game on YouTube and I was surprised at how bad they played.

If you want to take one game out of context, I guess we could take Tophat’s loss to the USYS South Region Champion out of context as well and say USYS is the best league.

There lies the problem…that is why YSR is currently the best system to analyze a team’s strength. I understand results favor ECNL, but it is what it is. Numbers don’t lie. People do.

In the end, if your goal is college help, its going to take a lot more than just a league or a team, no matter ECNL, GA, or USYS.

Oh, and VDA is a step above any other team in the DMV currently HOWEVER we just saw how much things changed in a year for the 07 age group.

The secret to success is actually finding players who are somewhat skilled but have the athleticism to play up a year. And then use their speed and physicality against players without that advantage. The more players like that that you have on your team the more successful the team is.

Right. Firstly, an overwhelming number of D1 soccer players come from ecnl. Secondly, most D1 teams play kick and run.

And kick and run does not need player development. You just need to be fast. Train for speed and strength, skip all the ball work/technical training. If the player is top 10% in terms of speed on your ECNL team they are guaranteed a college spot. Boys you need to be technical and fast, girls just need to be fast.
