Sorry. But, it is only getting worse.

Why isn't anyone using the word NO to these migrants? Why aren't they seeking "asylum" in Mexico? What makes them feel entitled to enter the U.S.?

Honestly, no other country on earth would be allowing this. Thanks, Biden.

Please explain how Biden has any control over this mass of people. He's not leading them here.

Some of you need to get your heads out of your right-wing butts.

Liar. Opening the borders was a major part of the Democrat Presidential debates. Every single Democrat presidential candidate raised their hand on stage in full support of open borders. The entire civilized world watched in horror.

Sad how Democrats latch onto outright lies every time they have anything to say. This is only one example. Shame on you!

This fiction that Democrats on this thread (and elsewhere) are pushing, is beyond pathetic. On day one of his presidency, Biden overturned any Trump migrant protocols that were actually working. This disaster is completely on Biden's shoulders.

Biden 2020 voter here. Yep. Biden or more accurately Harris ‘effed this border crisis up. The far-left has taken control of my party and it sucks. There’s no one to vote for in 2024. The only reason to vote for Biden-Harris is because I despise everything Trump represents. I do acknowledge that Trump was right about the border and Biden should have left a lot of those policies in place. The border is a cluster fucck.

And I disagree with an earlier poster who said that terrorist would not come across the border. That’s such a naive statement that you just shake your head and move on because you can’t reason with stupid or naivety.

DP. Ah, the idiot "Jesus toast" poster continues to embarrass herself. Here is the same news story, straight from the ICE website, with some extra special bonus information, just for you. I'm so sorry you are unable to accept actual facts.

"In fiscal year 2022, ERO arrested 46,396 noncitizens with criminal histories. This group had 198,498 associated charges and convictions, including 21,531 assault offenses, 8,164 sex and sexual assault offenses, 5,554 weapons offenses, 1,501 homicide-related offenses, and 1,114 kidnapping offenses."

https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/ero-los-angeles-arrests-26-convicted-sexual-predators-local-2-day-operation

I'm a DP, so not the Jesus toast poster. Without a doubt, there are criminals among the group of people who are illegal immigrants. But some of you like to paint it that all illegal immigrants are sex offenders or rapists or murderers etc and that is absolute nonsense. There are a whole hell of a lot of criminals among our legal citizen population. Can you find those same percentages for them? Are you equally worried about them? You are trying to demonize immigrants.

Do I want safe borders? Yes, I do. Do I think people should have to go through a legal process to live in this country. Yes, I do. Do I think all illegal immigrants are the worst sort of people? No, I don't. Most of them are just desperate refugees.

PPs like you who demonize all of them, now you are sacks of excrement. No compassion whatsoever.

Also, nearly to a person, these anti-immigrant posters are all recent immigrants themselves, or the children of recent immigrants. It's less about the tides of people Jesus toast has seen on Fox News (although they and her toast are the ones telling her to be frightened, and she always is), than it her massive class insecurity, the belief she has in her heart that she's not 'American' enough.

But that's your own problem, Jesus toast. You're just as American as I am. It's just that perhaps growing up on stories like the Los Gatos place crash, which happened on land my family used to rent before their own crops failed, I'm a little more aware of how agriculture and food production works in this country. We've always relied on labor, and a lot of its conditions are to this day closer to chattal slavery than you'd like to think.

The problem isn't with thousands of people fleeing north in search of a better future for their families... (And, by the way, most of those people are refugees, not "migrants" or "illegals.") The problem is in your own dimwitted heart, which is frightened because the television told you to be.

As I've said before, my xenophobic great grandparents couldn't keep your family out, thank God. And our nation is richer for it.

DP. Thank you for so beautifully illustrating the insane ramblings of the LWNJ mind. Let us know how many illegal immigrant families you're housing in your home, putting through school, paying the medical bills of.

You seem incredibly obsessed with Fox News, so I take it you don't get your news anywhere else. If you did, you'd know that ALL news sources are reporting on the border crisis, something you'd apparently love for voters to ignore. I give you the NYT:

"To many Republican politicians — and most voters, polls suggest — the porous southern border is an urgent problem. Since President Biden took office, the number of people apprehended at the border (a proxy for flows of illegal immigration) has risen more than fourfold compared with the average level in the 2010s. The data suggest that thousands of people are entering the country illegally each day. This surge has created chaos in parts of southern Texas and Arizona and has strained resources as far away as Chicago, Denver and New York.

Pull factors have also been important. During Biden’s presidential campaign, he spoke in much more welcoming tones than not only Donald Trump but also Barack Obama. “We’re a nation that says, ‘If you want to flee, and you’re fleeing oppression, you should come,’” Biden said during a 2020 campaign debate co-hosted by Univision, which has a large audience in Latin America.

Today, migrants who manage to set foot on U.S. soil can often claim asylum. Some genuinely qualify because they have a credible fear of repression in their home countries. Many others do not qualify, but they have learned that claiming asylum allows them to remain in the U.S. for months, if not years, while their case is heard."

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/18/briefing/immigration-debate.html

I noticed you never answered my question about your own background...

That's because I'm right.

The funny thing is, I'm closer to a moderate Republican than you are. I don't believe in "open borders," (or as you call them, "open boarders"). I think the key to tackling illegal immigration is to go after employers who hire them, something you would never do because you like your cheap chicken and your army of landscapers.

But I wholeheartedly support immigration reform and access to America because, unlike you, I don't find poor people who want a better life scary. We are a big country with a lot of hollowed-out cities and suburbs where recent immigrants have created entire communities in what used to be vacant lots and abandoned strip malls. I see a necessity in that that you, probably cowering in some mcmansion (or townhouse) in Loudon, miss.

Regarding the bolded........Irony alert.

Mayor Eric Adams, Mayor Brandon Johnson, and various other Democratic mayors and leaders are urging the Biden administration to issue work permits for those who are arriving illegally. Yep. So, how does that work if we go after employers who hire them?

https://blockclubchicago.org/2023/12/08/city-leaders-double-down-on-pressure-for-feds-to-issue-work-permits-for-all-immigrants/

Giving these people work permits is just one more pull factor encouraging more to come. Along with the social benefits and the welfare benefits they receive, giving work permits will continue the flood across our border.

I don’t know why the PP thinks it’s relatively recent immigrants who want to halt the illegal immigration. Many Americans who oppose it are descended from families that came over in the 1600s and 1700s and were the founding stock of this country.

Absolute bull$hit. According to the liberals here, Biden is a moderate democrat and he is the one that has caused this horrendous crisis. Only one democrat in congress has spoken out from the beginning about this mess - Henry Cuellar. Not one other democrat would admit there was a crisis.

Democrats would do nothing except allocate more money for processing and release. Democrats are the problem here. Vote them out.

Republicans aren’t capable of solving this crisis.
Oh, and I’ll never leave this thread alone. I’ll
Spam it well into the new year.

Frankly I’m sick of your crap.

DP. The relevant line is bolded. All you're doing is spamming and trolling nonsense that is easily disproved. I agree with the PP. Not one moderate Democrat - except Henry Cuellar - has spoken out. Not one. You have not one leg to stand on here.

I admit he border is broken and requires immediate action. However there is no need to lie to bolster your position. Senators Peters, Manchin, Warner and Sinema have spoken out against the crisis. Governors of Massachusetts and New York are speaking about the border disaster. And mayors from New York, Denver, El Paso , Chicago and even our very own DC are now overwhelmed and speaking harshly about the border crisis.

The problem is Biden needs progressives in order the beat Trump. They were never enthusiastic about Biden to begin with and now he is losing them quickly because of his support for Israel. If Biden does what most Americans want - a secure border, a rational immigration process, and deportations for those who entered the country illegally - he loses progressives who view such policies as racist.

Rock and a hard place for Biden.

But the border crisis is quickly becoming the major issue in American politics. More so than Dobbs, which really only affects women in red states. Sure, Dobbs will be important in Georgia and Nevada and a few other swing states. But now that unvetted illegals are overwhelming every corner of America - NY, Chicago, DC - and not just the border states, it's become a truly national issue. And even the vast majority of Democrats want a hard border. Do that though and you lose progressives.

Elections these days are won and lost on the margins. That's why the far right and the far left have so much sway, even though they both lack genuine popular support.

A parliamentary system really would be better.

You were doing OK until you used this extremely offensive, dehumanizing term.
The desperate people who cross our borders are from China, Africa, Haiti, Cuba, Central and South America. They are poor and hungry and have suffered terrible traumas before concluding that risking their lives to make the hazardous overland journey to the US is better than certain death in their home countries.
These are human beings, much like our ancestors, who came to this country for similar reasons years, decades or centuries ago.
You may not want them to come here, but please refer to these immigrants as human beings. They are desperate people who want simply to survive.

They are here illegally. They entered illegally, do not have required documents, so they are..... illegal.
And, how do you know that the bolded is true? You don't.
How do you know that the CCP hasn't sent these men (they are primarily military-aged men) for some plan they have in the works?
How do you that Venezuela didn't empty their prisons and send their prisoners here to get rid of them?
How do you know that any of the people coming don't have ill-will toward the US?

These people have not gone through a legal pathway to be present in the US. And, there are milions of them.
Time for them to return to their home countries.

I’m not sure I agree that he needs the likes of the Ocasio-Cortez voters. He needs the Independent
Voters to win. If the far-left wants another Trump in the White House and Republican controlled house and senate, so be-it. Their entire agenda is dead before it arrives. Biden needs to make a decision. Will
He stand up and be the moderate Democrat we
Thought we were voting for, or the far-left abandoning our country to the unimaginable while also allowing our daughters to compete against boys in dresses.

I agree. I think AoC might be smart enough to distance herself from the progressives too. The tide is turning away from the radical left. They were loud, they were impractical, and they ran a lot longer than I thought possible by shaming other people into believing in them, but people are tired of that. Biden knows that. He should be fine.

And how any sane person can possibly think the power vacuum of another Trump presidency is a good alternative is one of those questions I puzzle over, and the only thing I can come up with is they are profoundly short-sighted and stupid as the progressive left.

Have you met the TikTok generation?

This is an oft-repeated lie.

Immigrants who enter the US at the Southern border take jobs at low pay that no Americans are willing to take. They pick our crops, so we have cheap produce. They cook many of the meals we eat in restaurants, and clean our dishes when we're finished. They mow our lawns, care for our children and our elderly parents, build our homes, repair our roads, work harder than most Americans are willing to do for far lower pay.

That's the real cost of immigration. The cost to the immigrants, not to us. We are living off their desperation, and enjoying cheap food at their expense. How much are Americans willing to pay to keep immigrants out of our country? When those costs erode our paychecks, we may finally develop real immigration reform that allows workers from other countries to live and work here legally doing jobs Americans won't do.

Do you want to pay $4 for a green bean? If you do, then pay Americans $30+ per hour to work in the hot sun in dusty farms picking produce that immigrants will pick for a fraction of that pay. No Americans will do this work for low pay. The crops will rot in the fields were it not for cheap immigrant labor. And when that happens, Americans will begin screaming about the outrageously high cost of food that cheap immigrant labor is currently keeping low.

Your logic dictates that America must continue to exploit illegal immigrant labor. If they were citizens with rights and without fear of deportation, they wouldn’t work for that bullshit wages either leaving us in the same place. Might as well force the market to adapt as it always will, and stem the flow of economic migrants.

Sigh. So much nuttiness to unpack. Let's start with "DP" - that means "different poster." I've never used "boarder," but do continue lumping everyone you disagree with together. As for my background? So weird that you assume people against illegal immigration must be recent immigrants or children of immigrants themselves. Nope, sorry. My family has lived in the U.S. for generations. However, it is true that many recent LEGAL immigrants are completely against illegal immigration - for obvious reasons. They waited years to come here the legal way, jumping through all the necessary hoops, only to have millions simply walk across the border. Of course they're angry! And you should be too - you seem to make no distinction between LEGAL and ILLEGAL immigration. How many of these illegal immigrants have you offered to shelter in your home? Zero? That's what I thought. Also, you misspelled Loudoun. No doubt you don't often get beyond the borders of whatever cesspool city you squat in, so no surprise there.
