I used to be 5 pounds lighter and want to permanently lose those last pounds. They keep creeping back and I am looking for some tips.

| I eat a lot of chocolate, usually dark to satisfy cravings, but it is a good amount. I avoid grains and processed food. I'll add honey and brown sugar to sweeten things. Read labels. Cheese should have 2 ingredients, not 15 I've seen on a walmart package. So much of food is crap and chemicals. I shop at whole foods for fruits and veggies, good quality and pricy, I don't waste. I don't buy a box of cookies but will let the kids get a fresh cookie or two I might split with them or not so it is not in the house. I bake desserts myself using skinny taste recipes. If I need salty or a snack pop some popcorn or eat nuts. Butter and olive oil and nuts add good fat. I often replace meals with kind or lara brand bars. Salad with egg whites fruit and nuts is a staple lunch. |
Here is my secret. I am a single mother who has no help from my ex (at all). I do everything b/c I have no choice. People always say, "I don't know how you do it." You just do b/c you have no choice. Anyway, apparently the upside to it all is that I don't need to diet or do any formal exercise. I also can't afford to buy new clothes if I go up a size so when my clothes feel tight or leave marks in my skin, that is when I cut back on sweets, etc. So my solution is to get moving and keep moving. Gonna run downstairs and do some more laundry

Short of this option, I just walk more, drink lots of water, and cut down on snacking. |
| I figured out that I am a "sensory" eater. If I have unhealthy food around (holidays), I will eat it even if I am not hungry, or don't really want it. I eat it because I see it, or smell it. When the food is out of sight and I can't smell it, I have no desire to eat. I gain about 5 pounds each Christmas/new years every year because of this. Once the junk is out of the house, I lose the weight. I don't crave these foods or have an interest in them unless I see or smell them, then I go for them. A lot of times, I am not even hungry, but I still eat. Anyway, that has helped me. The rest of the year, I am like pp's...whole grain, lean meat, and lots of veggies. |
