For those that are thin, is your stomach flat/thin too? I'm an ok weight and pretty normal everywhere but I have a pouchy, flabby, fat stomach that I can't get rid of. I know I need to do sit ups and strengthen it but I also need to lose the tire that is around my waist. Any ideas?

On the legal side cigarettes work pretty well as a snack alternative. They also quicken the mind.

Seriously, I would get so much stuff done... Kidding. Kinda not.

Hmm, I consume fewer calories than I burn! Easy!

This is what worked for me.

Stand up (but have something to lean on...like a chair), lift one straight leg up and down to the side (not front like a kick), do this slowly about 30 reps. Next, with the same leg...hold it out to the side and do short side kicks about 30 (You are only kicking from knee to foot. Your thigh should not move.) Next, with the same leg (hold it up like you are going to kick box and do 30 more reps.) (This time you are kick boxing with your whole leg.) Repeat on other leg. It really works your stomach.

Do you think this is better than crunches?

Protien fruit smoothies twice a day, a multivitamin, moderate dinner, exercise and very little alcohol.

I have same problem: thin, run every day, but abdomen/muffin-tops unaffected by crunches. I will try the leg-lifts, more fun anyway.

I have gotten fat, fat, fat in the last year. Saw my reflection in the mirror today and thought...who is that blimp.

No self control, no will power. I used to work out, eat healthy, stay fit. Now i sit all day, eat whatever and feel like death.

I have 2 kids 3.5 and under so it's tough to fit in workouts but I get up at 5am 3 days/week to go to the gym. At home I do pushups and planks (really good for tummy-start at 20 seconds and try to get up to 90 seconds, rock on your toes to make it harder) maybe 5X.week. And I restrict my diet. During the week I try to be really good - fat-free Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, lots of tea and decaf coffee, protein bars, hard-boiled egg whites, bananas/fresh fruit, normal dinner, no alcohol (hard for me because I love a glass of wine after work!). On the weekends I eat whatever I want but I do tend to like healthy foods generally so it's not like I go nuts, but I go out to eat and really enjoy my meals on the weekend. Someone said "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" ... I hate to admit it, but it's true for me anyway. So I have boring eating during the weeks and look forward to some indulgence on the weekends. Has worked for me for 15 years...

Get enough sleep. This one is almost impossible for me, but there is more and more research supporting the connection between sufficient sleep and a healthy body weight.

There is also research showing that poor sleep can be related to excess body weight. I may be in a vicious cycle. I'm keeping to 1300 cal./day, which I religiously track, walk everyday and exercise regularly. I seldom east desserts and abdrink soda, sugared or otherwise. I eat a lot of vegetables and small amounts of chicken/fish/lean beef. I tend to stay away from "white foods" and excess carbs. But I can't shed weight and usually wake up serveral times at night. What to do?

What are you eating that is healthy? Those sugar free drinks are crap for your body. I hope you eat plenty of vegetables and legumes too, not just fake food and egg whites.
