Is this not a discussion about DA and ECNL? Im not worried about either of the above. Whoever leaves will be filled in no problem. We are most likely moving over to an ECNL team, or staying put where we are. Tough decision for us over the next few days. But weeding through all the BS and name calling and personal attacks in this thread looking for some legit information was a doozy. |
Your daughter is a DA player who played ECNL a year prior. Who has developed your daughter more? Nobody on this board can answer that. You are the one that wanted to have an actually conversation. So let's have it. My daughter played ECNL and is a current DA player. No I don't live vicariously through my little superstar because I'm too busy working to pay the San Diego bill. The league is nothing more then a tool in which to measure your child's level. I like DA. I also liked ECNL in the years past. They're essentially the same thing. However, I believe that ECNL in Northern Virginia is on the down swing for the younger age groups. I stand firm on that. I'll take 10 months of training for 4000 vs 6 months of training for 4000...which in reality cost 10000 So what's your story? |
And this is what Ive been looking for by coming here- as we have to decide whether ECNL is the route we want to take for our daughter. What age groups did your daughter play? What are the actual overall costs- $2500-$3k for club dues, and then travel to costs to and from NYC, NJ, Boston, etc (as we would be in the NE division). At what age does it shift from parents driving their girls to these league games to them traveling as a group on a bus? For ECNL did you travel out west a bunch? |

DA and ECNL at U15 and above will cost close to 10000.
There is no getting around that. That's a hard price point. At that cost, arguing over a few hundred dollars is pointless. It's |
What gets the costs to that amount for a team that is not playing in the fall? Florida, Texas, and NJ National events? (plus regular season costs?) |
| What is the experience you are seeing or hearing on recruiting and scouting for college? Does being in DA or ECNL make a difference? I am curious about how recruiting works. |

Why so bossy? All this much ado about nothing. The big question you were badgering - I don't even know at this point, but some regular mortal about - was which league and what state? |
| Can we just focus on the difference between ECNL and DA and leave the personal attacks and immaturity outside of these discussion. |
| I'm sure the cost includes the travel. Our U13 team went to FL for a tournament.. we spent 5 days down there and i spent $3000 on food, car rental, hotel and flights. |

When I say 10,000, I mean what you are actually paying out the door.
If you drop 5,000 on dues, fees, etc. you better be ready to drop another 5,000 on airfare, travel, lodging, food, etc throughout the year. (These are just estimates give or take a grand or two) As they get older, they can fly and lodge without you which will help lower the cost...a tad. If your child plays ECNL or DA from U14-18, expect to pay at least 50 to 60,000. High level soccer is not cost effective unless you get a full or partial scholarship. Better off investing the money. And lets not forget about career ending injuries. (Knock on wood) Point being, don't get involved in these leagues unless its your kids dream and or goal to play at the next level. its not worth it. - DA Parent |

Does it really matter which league (DA vs ECNL) the player is in when it comes to recruiting? Players have to make the effort to contact coaches, tell them schedules, send videos, etc. If this is the case why does it matter which league you are in? Both are top leagues so the coach evaluating is looking at how the player plays, makes decisions, deals with pressure and opportunity, etc.
Coaches are not knocking on your door unless you make the National team right? |
No, no right. Coaches go to DA or ECNL showcased, and they'll knock on doors from there. |
