US has no good options in Ukraine

This may have already been discussed in this thread. The link above is for a strategic partnership between the U.S. and Ukraine that was signed on Nov 21, 2021. Shortly after this document was signed, Putin began building up troops on Ukraine's borders.

It isn't a surprise that Putin would have reacted badly to this agreement. I don't understand why this agreement had to be made public. Why not construct this sort of arrangement out-of-sight?

Russia already effectively lost the war. Ukraine is destroyed and the people are evacuating (so nobody to rule), and resistance/weaponry will keep flooding in to grind down the Russian army. Exactly. Even if they take Ukraine (and they very well might), then what? Ukraine's wealth is in infrastructure (trashed and flattened) and agriculture (same) as well as its workforce (fleeing or fighting.) A huge amount of people already fled and more will flee. And it's not like Russia has excess population it needs space for so they can be happy about putting that excess population into Ukraine (in fact, Russia itself has arable land that's not used because they don't have enough people to work it.) A significant amount of people who stay are staying to fight them. The war is costing Putin a fortune at the same time he's tanked his economy and a long-term insurgency which will result if he conquers the place will cost more money that he is not swimming in.

He has wrecked his economy and any hope of most of the world willing to trust him in any sense to conquer a bombed out emptying out place the people of which hate him and will never integrate and will keep on trying to kick him out. He has also united the West in a way nobody has been able to do for as long as I can remember. These are not actions of a rational person in any sense.

He’s an authoritarian leader. He needed the war to rile people up. War creates fear, anger, and a host of negative emotions that make people easier to control by this kind of government. Of course he will exploit this opportunity to increase his power and silence or imprison opposition within Russia.

These are not piper cubs. Ukraine can fly some old Polish stuff but they will need training. No one in Ukraine could fly western stuff without months of training even if it was John Glenn that came back to life

I'm Ukrainian living the Canada but my girlfriend is from the DC area. I just don't get why Americans talk ignorance about countries they clearly no nothing about, some of these comments especially on our "race" are ridiculous. I myself am often mistaken for a Kazakh and many people in the US tell me I can't be European even though I have a common Ukrainian look.

This video is from today. Vlad having a tea party with the girls explaining the denazification of Ukraine. There is wide speculation that he was green screened in, so yeah still afraid of letting anyone come close.

Bosnia and Somalia weren’t nuclear powers.

I do feel terrible for the children. I think we should at least cut Russia off completely. No trade at all. No visas or green cards. Kick Russians out of our graduate programs.

And first of all we need to get them the war planes.

Let’s be real, we haven’t even cut off their oil, or at a minimum place heavy tariffs on it. Ukraine is sadly a pawn in a high stakes negotiation.
