Huh. As Trump gets crazier, and Biden leads by more...e the GOP stop campaigning in Texas... I’m a little more open to considering her. But I know I’m biased. I wanna see her kick asphalt, and implement a lot the help that is so much more appealing to people now than before. She is savvy enough to deal with others across the aisle. But I do think she is a turnoff for some Republicans. Doesn’t she have a townhall? I completely forgot to try to catch it!

Still think Bass is badass and would be less polarizing than Warren in terms of political position, and I find the rare possibility of someone with true service and humility leading our country, even if for one term, to be so powerful as an option. Americans are crushed and feel beaten down and we haven’t even gotten into the final days before election. We need wisdom guiding and hope inspiring.

I love the way you worded it. I don’t think I realized how much I want and value this until you said it!

Have you seen this thread?

I was excited by the possibility of Bass until hearing about it.

Who’s the “her” here? Warren, Harris or Duckworth?

Warren, apologies for not being clear. My prayer is that Harris puts country before party and replaces Barr and kicks ass from that perch. Warren has always been polarizing but the economy makes me curious to hear new approaches to repair. Bass is someone I have 100% confidence in. Just saying my risk tolerance for Warren’s impact is shifting a bit as I see the public more frustrated with the incumbent.

Ah, thanks. I’m one of the PPs who really likes Warren and thinks she’s ready day 1 if, god forbid, something happens to Biden.

+ seriously!

People are so nitpicky. Who cares. I like all the VP candidates and will be fine with any of them.

Ugh announcement probably delayed an extra week. Biden must be having trouble settling on one, or maybe a late-entry candidate like Bass needs more time for vetting because of her long record.

Interesting inside baseball account of Dem lobbying. Seems Bass is a consensus choice, Harris is viewed with skepticism, Rice is a wild card, and Duckworth is liked but there are concerns about legal challenges re:her birth.

Someone close to the campaign indicates Kamala does not poll well with Black voters, and is viewed by a number of Dems (not just Dodd) as not having the right qualities to serve as a governing partner. She’s out.

I hope she replaces Barr. She will be perfect in that role!

Exactly this. We can be our own worse enemy at times. Rally around whomever the pick is like the GOP did Trump and Pence, who both have a plethora of question marks on their resume. Anyone who withholds their vote because they don't like the VP candidate enough is a fool.

I am a black person who would be okay with Harris. She's not my first pick, and I would love her as AG, think she was born for that role, at this time in our country, but if she's the VP pick I will still vote for them. This is not the time to be nitpicky.

Someone in the campaign hates Kamala’s guts. No idea who but she’s the VP. Get over it.

Could the bashing just be a ploy to distract from the fact that its Kamala? Also, why does Chris Dodd have a platform. He is a fcking lobbyist with a laundry list of abuse allegations. As a CT native and part-time resident, Blumenthal is miles better and more charming.

I wondered that, too, but it could just as easily be laying groundwork for the fact that it's not Harris. This would make sense since the media has created some expectation around her, but it's almost never been the media-anointed pick. This thread has exhaustively reviewed her issues. Since he's been clear all along his priority is a governing partner, she never made much sense to me. Dodd has Biden's ear because of their 30-year friendship. Biden is a backslapper who has plenty of acquaintances but in politics it's hard to find someone you really trust and apparently he trusts Dodd. So much so he was willing to overlook the baggage of the poor optics of having him on the vetting committee.
