Usha Vance - Fashion Thread

Her hair looks fine.

Why does every rich white woman assume that all Indian and Indian-American women are the same? And that we're all set in the traditions of a culture that we or our parents left behind?

Yeah, I’m sympathetic as mine would never stay in any sort of updo without a disgusting amount of product. I was not one of the ones picking at her for “messy” hair though — it looked fine to me. Maybe a smidge shorter would help keep it in line more. But she probably needs hair advice from an Indian lady with similar hair. Also once your hair goes grey, it is really hard to contain as the grey ones have totally different texture— that’s one reason a lot of women die it. I was prepared to go grey naturally until I realized it would make my hair look messy all the time. Not that it’s so great dyed! Aging is rough.

Anonymous wrote:Usha Vance looks AMAZING today!!!! That color is sooo great on her. I also liked J.D. Vance tie. Trumps tie could have used more pizzaz.

WTF happened with Kamala's 1989 zip up track suit from Filene's basement sales rack? She was the least dressed. How lazy!!!! God Riddance!!!
Poor Kamala and her zipper outfit looked frumpy and sad. Very poor choice for a crowd and a photo op. She needs the stylist.

I can't imagine what she was thinking when she put that on today. Im no runway model but that outfit is a head scratcher.

I think she was trying to be low-key and not make a statement. It was appropriate.

I disagree. It was very lazy and unprofessional at best.

It is a black pantsuit with pumps and pearls. I think she is also wearing an American flag pin. It isn't unprofessional. She is the outgoing VP. She can wear a dark pantsuit.

That was not a pantsuit it was a sweat suit. Ugh.

Can you really blame her for not putting on a fashion forward outfit? This is essentially a day of mourning for her.

I am chiming back in to say that I really feel she wanted to be "all business" and get the job done. Nobody is picking on any of the men's suiting. She looked just fine and she even threw on a neutral but patterned scarf with her black overcoat. What do people really expect from her here?

She's not representing the country today. Today she is a private citizen.

I'm personally not a fan of a zipper detail for this occasion, but I think it was a half-veiled finger to the event anyway. But I would have thought the same if it were someone else wearing it, too. At least it was fitted, and her outerwear was perfect.

I am totally giving a pass to UVance's helmet hair. She has fine hair with flyaways and layers, and they were outside. This was not a matter of "you can do better." And I'm delighted to see natural grays in any woman on the national stage -- they are their own sort of beauty. I just really want to get her set up with someone who can get the proper fit on her.

PS: That was in agreement with the post I quoted.

Many pages ago, I said that Usha was probably getting a lot of hate from Indians. I have no idea why you are talking about our parents. My parents don’t hate on her. I don’t any Indian immigrant who would hate on a double Yale grad lawyer who clerked a Supreme Court judge because her outfits are dowdy and she’s prematurely graying.

Usha is absolutely getting grief from her culture - which is children of Indian immigrants who grew up here.

This is a better angle, though the coat overall is too large and needs to be tailored.

She looks pretty but I wish she wore a jewel tone bc this shade washes her out a bit!

It was custom. Ivanka's dress was amazing too.

With the right makeup would have been fine.

I am not. And to be clear, I am not blaming her. I am blaming the hairstylist.

A talented hairstylist could do a chignon and get it to stay in place without that much gel. I understand using a little to hold flyaways in place but they basically poured an entire bottle over her head. Insane.

I love how she wore the same shade of eyeliner and mascara as her husband. Feels a lot more fresh and modern than matching your dress with your husband's tie.

Agreed. A nice homage to the queer community they hate.

Until Vance was sworn in she was the VP and absolutely representing the country. Typical that she's bitter and can't be bothered.
